Album Background: Inédito (originally simply titled "Tom Jobim" for its 1987 release) was Tom Jobim's Privately Commissioned 1987 studio album.

The album was commissioned by the Brazilian Industrial Conglomerate, Odebrecht (now known as Novonor) to commemorate Tom Jobim's 60th birthday. Since the album was privately commissioned, It allowed Tom Jobim to have full creative and financial control over the album. The album was performed with his touring and recording group "A Banda Nova" and was recorded at his home at the same time as his 1987 studio album "Passarim", his first studio album in seven years.

The album was a career retrospective that consisted of privately recorded versions of his best-known songs along with lesser-known material that was previously never recorded.

Upon its original release, the album was produced in very limited quantities, with *Four thousand* copies of the album being distributed to schools, libraries, and museums and was given to Odebrecht employees and customers as the 1987 Odebrecht Christmas present.
The album was packaged in a boxed set containing the album in a 2 LP Vinyl Set and a biographical book about him written in Brazilian Portuguese and English by Brazilian Journalist Sérgio Cabral.

In 1995, eight years after the album's original release and a year after Tom Jobim's Death, the album was re-released to the general public on CD under the title "Inedito" ("Unpublished") after his family agreed with Odebrecht to re-release the album to the general public through BMG Brazil (now distributed by Biscoito Fino).

The album can be streamed on YouTube and any Music Streaming Service you use. The 1995 CD re-release is common to find but the original 1987 double Vinyl album with book is extremely rare and sells for a very high price on auction sites.
