The timing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh’s visit to Turkey to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is significant, says FRANCE 24's Leela Jacinto. Their talks on Saturday came days after Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s visit to Qatar, where Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said Doha was reassessing its role as mediator in talks aimed at a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

Erdogan has been a life member of the Muslim Brotherhood. In 2013 Erdogan gave political asylum to over 1, 500 Muslim Brotherhood members escaping from Egypt (post el Sisi). All over the Islamic countries Muslim Brotherhood affiliated political parties often include 'Justice' or 'Reform' in their names. Erdogan's party AKP means the Justice and Development Party. Hamas is nothing but the Gaza chapter of the Brotherhood. Tariq Hashimi the Vice President of Iraq is a member of the Brotherhood. Qatar is a very strong supporter of the Brotherhood. Qatar gives over US$300 million each year to Hamas most of which goes to the Muslim Brotherhood. Qatar does not give any money to the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the West Bank. The "secular" PA are enemies of the "islamist" Muslim Brotherhood. Qatar has an embassy in Gaza - which means they officially recognise Hamas. But Qatar has no embassy in the West Bank - meaning Qatar does not recognise the PA. Qatar, Hamas, Erdogan are all Muslim Brotherhood. So the meetings between Turkey, Qatar and Hamas are nothing more than to coordinate Muslim Brotherhood strategies. Please do not get fooled.
