The five non-fatal offences against the person include assault, battery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, maliciously wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm and wounding or causing grievous bodily harm with intent. This video will look at these different offences by examining the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 and the case law that surrounds the issue. The concept of consent will also be examined in relation to these non-fatal offences including cases like R v Brown 1994.

Do you have a source for Logdon v. DPP [1976] as you explain it? As i understand it, the defendant did not merely open a draw to show the women a pistol he pounted it at her. I feel it would be auguable that showing the weapon in a draw would meet the Actus Reas of Assault though to reiterate, it was pointed at her.
