Germany’s center-left Social Democrats were dealt a stinging blow in Sunday’s election. Other left-wing parties in Europe have suffered a similar fate in recent years. So why is socialism in decline?

Socialism in power neglects the issue of utilization（progress of technology ), the European socialists focus mainly on distribution.Without innovations, society cannot create more surplus wealth for the use of people, people therefore become poorer, so they vote for the right( neoliberals or nationalists). Socialism with innovations, an examplar: Mondragon Cooperation in Spain, is the way out. Alternative for Europe and the world.

That stuff sucks. They promise everything but never tell you how they will pay for things. Projected costs are way less than actual costs.

"Social Democrats" .... "Socialism".... pick ONE and don't equate these two very much opposing ideologies!

Socialism has long evolved as a concept around the premise that the Working Class control the Politics and Economics of society, and building up society with a wide range of possibilities but always based on that very basic principle in which the Working Class controls the political-economy of society. Socialism can this take many different forms and create policies suitable for a nations particular circumstances, given that it sticks to the principle that the Working Class retains control of the political-economy of society.

Social-Democracy is extremely different, for it proposes the notion that Capitalism should be retained as, and that it can be eternally reformed to serve the interest of the people by cramming in a vast number of regulations and social-reform policies into capitalist society. Socialism does not mean a society crammed full of "social" policies, it only means a society controlled by the working class. This is an enormous difference which flies right over the head of a media which is actively distorting socialism as just a typical mainstream ideology found within capitalism.

Further, in this clips very misleading claim that Socialism is "declining" by pointing out the decline of Social Democratic parties, they completely ignore clearly increased support for actual socialist and revolutionary thought.
