To clear up my confusion — this worked sort of like a 'spill-over' DC, yes? Not meant to be a home centre, but for anyone who was having trouble doing content on their own worlds during the expansion launch?

I don't have any experience with the EU DC, but since you mentioned Dynamis, I need to chip in from the NA side. Dynamis has had free server transfer and they've been giving rewards for people to switch - I went from Goblin on Crystal to Seraph on Dynamis and it's almost as busy, if not busier, than the server I came from. In addition, housing has been far easier to actually win, because there's so many plots and a lack of people able to afford to buy a plot for themselves. Whereas on Goblin there'd be 20, 40, 100 entries into the lottery, I was able to secure a plot for myself as the only bidder.

I hope that they do more to encourage people to come to Dynamis because it's been a positive little community so far, and I'm far happier for having migrated. It sounds like Shadow might have always been temprary, though so it might not be a 1:1 comparison. Just wanted to toss in my 2 MGP and invite you to come take a gander at our happy little home! So this DC was just a temporary thing in preparation for the expansion launch to reduce ques etc and future ones I guess? That makes sense. I thought it was a permanent one but it was clear that Chaos and Light are the very core of EU and still have plenty of room. Personally I would like if SE just keeps it open cuz its own little funny thing.

I have an account on EU and cleared UWU before DT. My home is Chaos and we tried to make parties on it, but maximum 1 a day is what was possible. Everyone went to Light. It is not dead because we dont raid, its just that once everyone migrates to the place where there are more, its difficult to reverse the effect.

Ok.. I kinda wanted to make a Character on Pixie.. well.. imo, they shouldn't have used those Names like they did.. just call it temp_server 1, 2, 3, 4 to clear up confusion

I also hate how dead Chaos is for harder content. I don't want to travel every time I do an ex or savage. It was fine during Tier 1 of Pandemonium. It was fine when travel was turned off. I feel like in EU at least, the disadvantages outweigh the benefit. Of course you have DCs like Dynamics or the Oceanic DC, that rely on DC travel. But the system overall is very flawed in my opinion.

This is what I've been saying all along! It was a self fulfilling prophecy. I'm sick of everyone saying "everyone raids on Light" and voice it regularly whenever I hear it, that's exactly why Chaos' PF has been empty for so long. The more people hear that, the more people think "I should go to Light to put my PF up". I think we just really need PF to be cross data centre.

This and others like it weren't the standard game servers. They were temporary, only to have some overflow space and when that's done, they're out. Nothing weird or sad about it. If anything, shows that game devs actually put some thought behind the higher volume during DLC launch to cope with larger initial numbers online at once and once it smoothed out, they removed extra space. Many games wouldn't have bothered with such a thing and would have let the main game servers cope with overload and thus possibly cause issues.

As someone who doesn’t raid and instead is into housing decorating and events I definitely prefer option to travel between DCs than an empty DC without houses 😅.
I also think this launch was incredibly smooth and I can see that they learned a lot from EW and previous expansions so I’m honestly impressed by their solutions this time around.

I would be happy if this solution comes back as a temporary option again in the future, but I wouldn’t want to be restricted from traveling to Chaos from Light bc I did organize FC trips to the aquarium before and similar things and I’d be sad to not have this option 😢.

I actually used Shadow to try and farm up FATEs for the shared FATE system in DT since people were very quick to snipe any FATE that spawned on Chaos/Light

Chaos DC player here. Chaos PF has been fine for a hot min now. I had no idea Shadow was even a thing tbh.

I thought Aether was the most popular for High End Raiding? I cant even visit that data center still. Everything is greyed out.

Many people said the same thing about primal in NA, but when travel to aether was cut off, raid and prog on primal was strong and healthy again. With the change to login priority for dc travelers, meaning, even if you can manage to travel to aether, it's unlikely you'd be able to login, it seems, for now, that raid and prog on primal will be healthier than it was in EW.

Dynamis resident here. With the release of DT and the return of DC travel, we really are just a whole server now. Queue times are still normal, PF has people on it, we have regular Hunt Trains. I don't think we really NEED a temp server over in NA.

I never hoped on the Shadow Data Center servers, but I had considered it (I'm from Chaos). I considered it for a while, until the Lodestone post, which then cut my interest in doing so. I didn't know it was a temporary data center tbh, but I'm fine with that being the case. It would've been a disaster if it was permanent imo. With people in EU already being divisive between Chaos & Light, having another permanent data center would've been a no go. I'm fine if the doors to the "Shadow Realm" keep on returning & going whenever mass congestion between the data centers is to be expected.

Part of me kinda wishes this is what would have happened to Dynamis to begin with, that we were just a load-bearing server but couldn't create characters on it.

Would have prevented me from making the mistake of rolling on Maduin, and then getting trapped here for several weeks, because the only thing it succeeded in doing was making me regret I didn't choose Aether/Primal/Crystal instead, and now I've been debating doing a pay transfer to finally get away from any part of Dynamis.
