Finally found the bird who decided to sing at 4am every day! Beautiful song no matter how annoyingly early they are...

The memories of when I was a teenager: warm summer evenings, mowing the lawn, finishing late, near dusk. The smell of gasoline and fresh-cut grass stuck in my nose. The sun, gone; shades of blue and grays overtaking the scene. And the robins calling, bouncing along, signaling the end of the day's work .

Lovely.

Brings back memories of hearing/seeing the robins coming in every evening to roost in our big Holly trees :-)

I never knew robins were up and singing so early! My dog has reached an advanced age and no longer is making it through the night without a trip outside. 4:00 a.m. seems to be a common time for her to go out now. I've been hearing this cheery song when I go outside with her, but it's still dark so can't see the bird that is making it. It's a lovely song, but so early!

My husband and I just saw this lovely bird eating our holly berries. We live in Connecticut now, but we used to hear this song and see these birds in Southern California back when we lived there!

Yep, have heard this all my life. Didn't know it was robins. I could identify their alarm song but not their normal one.

These birds used to drive me crazy because all I'd hear for hours while trying to fall back asleep was that bird song over and over again

Finally! I live in a pretty populated suburb and this is the only birdsong I can hear over the din of the main road in the evenings. Couldn’t for the life of me identify what it was until now!

Robins - and any of the Thrush, are one of my favorites to watch hunting.
Listening this morning, before the crack of dawn, just a hint of light in the sky @ 4:15 am. I played this recording using a Bluetooth speaker, out the window to see if there would be a response
I don't know if there was a response but I feel like I was in a conversation with the early bird

You can hear another Robin in the distance... and the Robin closer to the microphone is repeating their calls. They communicate over vast distances, across North America, using call repetition. This is the proverbial drop a pebble in a pond metaphor.

We can hear a single robin singing like this ALL DAY LONG in the top of a tree. Is this a territorial thing? It just goes on and on.

The one singing by my home at 2 in the morning sounds like it's saying "tweetybird tweetybird tweetybird".
