His opponents are some of the best players in the world. They know he likes to do La Croqueta. But it doesn't matter. They are still fooled by it.

To be fair, Michael had two signature moves... this, but also Le Chapeau - the scoop over the heads pass - which he was also the absolute master at...

No one does the la Croqueta better than Michael Laudrup or Brian Laudrup. They were Michael 183cm and Brian 185cm fairly tall players, but had hardly longer legs than Messi or Maradona. They used this to extreme effectiveness being able to turn on a plate, and with a slightly forward leaning composure. Defenders never stood a chance of even reaching the ball before the Laudrups skipped past them. Their style is simply unique and extremely elegant to watch. While skipping past players they do it within touching distance and with no outburst of body composure.

I did that tonight at 5-side... First I beat 2 men out wide with it and then the keeper with the same move !!!! For a split second I felt like Michael Laudrup out there. Then I came back to reality

FIFA 2003 will always have a special place in my heart because players had a signature move. And that was really the only “dribbling skills” you could do in that game so you had to execute it at key moments in the game or else it wouldn’t pan out.

What amazed me about Laudrup, was that this wasn't just a move for him, it's seemed so natural that is was just a part of the plan, he already knew the next 3-4-5 moves after that, like "I get past him and him, maybe a little nutmeg and that guy, and then the pass for the assist". He was already several steps ahead when he performed it, it was often so effortless, like a game of chess - several other players have done the "move" well, but that's just it, it wasn't a move to him, it's just a natural part of football.
