Adam: What's going on everybody Adam here with Etrailer.Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Pewag 7mm LT studded truck chains with cam tensioners, on our 2017 Chevy Silverado 2,500. If you're looking for one of the most aggressive tire chains you can put on your tires, look no further. This is what you want. It's going to be extreme off-road conditions only. If you've got a bunch of ice, maybe even just iced up mud and stuff like that, these are going to be able to dig in there and really get you the traction that you need. We are going to have 7mm studs on top.

They're all going to be on a twist link as you can see. It is going to be extremely aggressive, really, really rough ride, and definitely for off-road applications.Everything you see here is made with a high end steel alloy. It's going to be extra, extra strong and tough. It's not really going to wear away over time. You're going to get a lot of different seasons out of these chains.

Really heavy duty. We have really big cam tensioners and they come with a really big tool too, to get the right fit. I like cam tensioners just because you have a lot of different adjustments. As these tires start to wear down over time, it might start to affect in little tiny ways, but with the cam tensioners, we can use only two, or we can use all three to really get that right fit. These do come in a pair of two. If you do plan on just doing two chains, all you have to do is just grab a pack of these.

It does come in a really thick canvas bag. I really liked that. Some of them come in canvas bags that pretty much ripped immediately. This is pretty much the thickest one you can get. Those should last you a while. It really was an easy installation process, so let's just go ahead and go over it now.

First things first, is lay out your chains, make sure they're not tangled up new twists or anything like that. Then there's two things we need to take into account. One, this little link here, we're going to have an abrasive side and we're going to have a not so abrasive side. We want the not so abrasive side to go towards your tire just to prevent any unnecessary wear from happening. Then we do want to make sure that the cams are going to be facing the front of our tire and of course the studs facing away from the tire. Of course.Once we do that, grab the chains in the middle the best you can and join from over your tire. You want to make sure they're nice and even. Try to make it to where they're not really going in front of the rim. Once you get all that set into place, let's go ahead and go around back and make our first connection. On one end we're going to have a little hook and on the other end, we're going to have a series of links. Pick a link, hook it up. We do recommend that you do this in your garage first, just so we can figure out the best link for the tire, because we're going to have links in the back and the front to pick from. Try it out first before hitting the situations where we need to get the right fit. I'm going to use the second from the end there, and I'll meet you around front for a second connection. All right, cool. Still, a little bit of tension we need to get out. Now, we're going to take our tool and I usually start with the top cam. We probably not going to have to use all of them. You really don't have to. I'll probably use more than just one. I'm going to pick this one over here. There we go. That is nice and tight, but we're not done yet. Put the tool wherever you want. We are going to need to use these rubber tensioners. If you scroll down on the webpage and the related part section of the page, you'll see these guys. Just hit add to cart. They don't come with the kit, but we need to use them. All we need to figure out is just make sure that the hooks are going to be facing out, away from the tire. We do want to be as symmetrical as we can whenever we're hooking these up, just to help evenly distribute all of that pressure. Once we get that all squared away, we do want you to go in the truck, roll over them a couple of times, come back out, make sure it's still nice and tight. If so, we're ready to hit the road.Well everyone that just about does it for our look at the Pewag 7mm LT truck tire chains with cam tensioners, on our 2017 Chevy Silverado, 2,500.
