These arguments made no sense to me. Consider at the time the camp story was made, 1k/2k was considered rich and the gold left on the chest is presumably a lot (although not specified). And there was evidence laying in his safe which also very heavily hints him as the bad guy, also don’t forget this story was made before any of the town stuff was made

This doesn’t make sense to me mr pemberton literally wanted the camp to be torn down he literally said at the ending “How did you get the money!?” That’s means he made sure the camp would be torn down but due to us giving money he immediately resorted to doing something illegal then we just put him in jail by getting the illegal stuff.
