Kasdan wrote the 5th and final draft, which became the shooting script.

Lucas had actually written 3 drafts of the script that he described as being closer to the finished film.

Kasdan got the job because George liked his script for Raiders

1. Han Solo survived the whole film

2. Luke's father and Vader were separate characters, with Luke seeing the Force ghost of his father on Dagobah and taking the oath of the Jedi from him
