We’re thrilled to announce that Residential Energy Services (RES) has been nominated for a 2024 London Construction Award, Community Engagement. This nomination reflects our commitment to improving community life through energy efficiency projects. We are beyond grateful to everyone who has supported us on our journey so far.

The London Construction Awards celebrates achievements in the construction industry across the UK. The awards recognise outstanding performance in, sustainability, innovation, community engagement, and more.

The London Construction Awards places great emphasis on community engagement, recognising organisations that actively involve and positively impact the communities they serve. It champions projects that aim to enrich the lives of the people living around these projects, and we’re proud to see The Warmer Homes Project and our Workplace Energy Advice programme listed among them.

At RES, community involvement is at the heart of our operations. As a provider of energy awareness and advisory services to UK households, we specialise in guiding householders through energy-saving measures, from initial advice to the installation of energy measures.

Our energy advisors are active participants in the communities they serve. We work closely with local groups and charity organisations to create “energy advocates” who continue promoting energy efficiency, long after our events have concluded. With 109 events delivered as of June 2024, we’ve so far exceeded our projections, illustrating our commitment to community interaction.

One of our flagship initiatives is the Warmer Homes Project, launched in 2023 in partnership with Socially Grown Ltd and funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). This project targets fuel poverty and energy inefficiency, particularly among vulnerable households in Staffordshire and Shropshire. By facilitating access to critical government funding programs such as the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) and the Great British Insulation Scheme, we’ve made a tangible impact on these communities, reaching 449 consumers and providing 323 hard-to-reach households with in-person retrofit advice by April 2024.

Collaboration is key to our success. We’ve formed robust partnerships with organisations such as Socially Grown, Potteries MoneyWise, and The Stroke Club. Additionally, our Workplace Energy Advice programme, in collaboration with the Department of Energy Security & Net Zero and Midlands Net Zero Hub, offers flexible employee access to energy support, further extending our reach and benefit to living-wage and shift-based workers.

The Warmer Homes Project enables households to adopt sustainable practices like loft insulation and solar panel installation, while our educational initiatives ensure communities understand and embrace these changes. Our customer satisfaction rate of 95% as of April 2024 reflects our success in maintaining open, responsive communication with our stakeholders.

We could not have achieved this without the incredible support and collaboration of local businesses, contributors, collaborators, and families we have worked with over the past few years. Your trust, engagement, and partnership have been critical in our journey towards creating energy-efficient communities.

As we look forward to the London Construction Awards, we remain committed to our mission of helping UK households become more energy efficient and sustainable. This nomination is not just a recognition of our past efforts, but motivation to continue building a better future for our communities. We’re just getting started!
