I agree with the offering of making fun of yourself. I would like to expand on that here humbly. Making fun of yourself can mean an identifiable connecter to the audience. I have found though that this works as an initial warmer to a new audience but I'd caution against using it exclusively as you can turn an audience if they suspect it's your primary schtick. I imagine this guy though teaches much more than this though and so I offer my point for casual viewers looking for a quick fix to comedy work. Watch this guys other uploads and compile the lessons when writing stuff. My advice also, write your jokes! Any idea with potential. When you test it on friends but they don't like it despite you liking it, rewrite it. Draught them. Like this guy properly advised though. First joke should be an embarrassing anecdotes. It's a great place to start, and mostly writes itself just by your recollection. I wish I had this advice myself when I was younger haha. I ternet is great

The best and most iconic comedians are one of two characitures:
1. Terrible person who is arrogant
2. Terrible person who is insecure

Pick one of these two things and tell your story through that lens. Its the perfect formula

another advice is to make it relatable. for example:

You know when you go on a trip with your parents? They bring a lot, am i right?
First topic: food
THEY BRING AN ENTIRE KITCHEN. THEY BE PLASTIC WRAPPING THE STOVE, THE MICROWAVE, EVEN THE FRIDGE. LIKE WHAT!? 🤦‍♀️ Next topic: sleep
THEY BRING AN ENTIRE BED. THEY BRING TEN SETS OF PAJAMAS AND BLANKETS. MOM WE'RE GOING TO A HOTEL. NOT AN ABANDONED SHACK IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. NEXT TOPIC: Cleanliness
THEY RUSH INTO THE BATHROOM. NEXT SECOND YOU SEE THEM BRINGING AN ENTIRE BATHTUB. THEN THE NEIGHBORS BE LIKE, "Oh are you moving?" THEN U GONNA BLAME IT ON ME!? "Sofiah why did you lie to them about us moving?" LIKE WHAT. ITS LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE WE'RE MOVING. YOU KNOW WHAT LETS BRING THE ENTIRE HOUSE. Yeah sometimes i dont understand parents.
That's just an example. Im not sure if i made u laugh but i made myself laugh.

If you have to pay to learn how to do comedy you might be in the wrong business. When something makes you laugh, type it in your phone. Easy as that.
