Dusknoir's main niche is that it allows Dusclops to hold Eviolite

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. For me, that’s expecting they finally add good physical electric moves to a new generation

I'm surprised you didn't mention that Mega-Garchomp should have fallen to UU by usage, but couldn't because regular Garchomp was holding it in OU by technicality.

Frosmoth definitely belongs on that list. During the period of leaks coming out, when Frosmoth got leaked, people thought it was going to have Volcarona tier stats.
And then we saw that base 65 speed. 😞

I remember Eelektross getting lots of hype in Gen 5 for having no weaknesses and having actually pretty good stats, but at the end of the day, it didn’t amount to much in OU probably because it was a physically-oriented electric type that wasn’t that bulky to begin with

Edit: Pretty random, but how could I possibly forget the nearly-existent terror of Shadow Tag Chandelure. It was an unreleased hidden ability for a generation, then just ended up getting replaced by Infiltrator in Gen 6. Pretty disappointing

Zoroark suffers the same problem Spy from TF2 has in Class Wars, they are both announced to the enemy team when their whole thing is not being expected

Here's hoping that Rock gets some movepool expansions eventually. For a typing with that kind of offensive coverage, it's conspicuously devoid of both special attacks and attacks that can consistently hit the enemy.

Alolan Dugtrio being confirmed part Steel type but losing Arena Trap was a massive disappointment. It could've been a good method to trap and deal with fairies, but instead it's just diet Excadrill. It even loses 10 base speed from Kanto Dugtrio, WHO MADE THIS?!

Now I wanna see top 5 or 5 surprises/upsets in competitive. 5 Pokémon that didn’t look impressive, but later came out of nowhere and shaped the meta game.

Rillaboom comes into mind. It looked like a decent grass starter for the lower tiers, but then they gave it grassy surge and introduced grassy glide. Now it’s standard in a lot of teams in OU

Zamazenta Crowned for me is easily the most disappointing legendary when comparing to his counterpart Zacian and Zacian Crowned. Plus it doesn't get Body Press!

Zoroark got done so dirty when team preview was added. What a novel concept; a shapeshifting threat that would make your opponent second guess their own knowledge about type match ups. They did my kitsune boy dirty! Great video all the same! I love these branch outs into other competitive pokemon topics!

Years pass, yet still I find myself lamenting the lack of a Mega Yanmega. It's painfully obvious and yet absurdly fitting.

Wow, I never realized that Mimikyu was considered disappointing even in Generation 7. I figured that the nerf to Disguise in Gen 8 was because it was too powerful as is, similar to how Gale Wings got nerfed after one generation (from what I've heard, Talonflame eventually fell out of favor in Gen 6 OU, too, but not until long after Gen 6 was no longer the current generation).

I think Mega Garchomp would actually be INSANE if Scale Shot existed during that period

Honorable mention to Chandelure in Gen 5 that ended up being perfectly balanced in contrast to the pre-debut hype as a result of never having access to its hidden ability Shadow Tag.

Note about Mimikyu, in the official singles format (Battle Stadium/Battle Spot Singles) Mimikyu has consistently been one of the best cleanup artists in the metagame. The advent of Dynamax in SwSh allowed Mimikyu to also serve as a powerful wallbreaker thanks to max phantasm’s defense dropping effect.

Honestly, my disappointment is how Zama didnt get Body Press, it was LITERALLY made for it (based of Def and a Fighting move) and it couldve had a really unique niche (I dont care if its supposedly worse than Klose Kombat, it still wouldve been just as good without Def stat drops), too bad its seen as a worse Zacian (even if hes nowhere near as bad as ppl make it out to be)

Okay that bit with zoaroak pretending to be arceus was absolutely fantastic

Can we all agree that regigas is incredibly disappointing?
Even more than slaking or arcehops because his design is just so amazing.
I feel like his ability would be cool, if it like... doubled his already high base stats after 5 turns, but the way it is now is just annoying.
