Surging seas are coming for us all, warns UN chief | BBC News

The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has said that big polluters have a clear responsibility to cut emissions – or risk a worldwide catastrophe.

“The Pacific is today the most vulnerable area of the world,” he told the BBC at the Pacific Island Forum Leaders Meeting in Tonga. “There is an enormous injustice in relation to the Pacific and it’s the reason I am here.”

The World Meteorological Organization’s State of the Climate in the South West Pacific report says this region faces a triple whammy of an accelerating rise in the sea level, a warming of the ocean and acidification – a rise in the sea’s acidity because it’s absorbing more and more carbon dioxide.

Carbon dioxide isn't increasing - it's 0.04% of the air we breathe...it needs to increase to make plants grow better - it's pumped into poly-tunnels as there isn't enough in the air...

The only way to stop climate change is for these manufacturers to stop making short lived appliances and stop making one time use plastic materials and also everything is cemented. Where do yo think the water will go? Inside your house.
When our street wasn’t cemented yet whenever it rained twas all good. But when they started cementing roads and pavements our house started to get flooded. Their cannals and water ways isn’t enough for the volume of rainfall.

Surging seas are coming for us all?

Meanwhile here in the UK we are expanding off shore windfarms.

Trust the science as we say 😂

Rubbish the seas aren’t rising. Independent people who monitor this say that the seas rise and fall throughout the world and is normal.

Yes that a good idea move back a bit from the sea. Coastlines will change over the years. It's very normal. Some many islands in many oceans have now been under the sea for centuries. It's just they way our planet is.

so if it’s such a threat you can tell Coca Cola and Pepsi to stop producing 20, 000 single use plastics a month?

Human intervention in the processes of nature have little or nothing to do with this. These cycles have been occurring long before we could be considered as a force. Similar to the footprint of an ant on a hill.
