This is an ʻoli kahea or a chant requesting to enter a space. It was first performed and composed by Hiʻiakaikapoliopele whoʻs the youngest sister of the fire goddess Pele. Hiʻiaka utter this ʻoli when to request entrance at the Wailua river on Kauaʻi during her journey to fetch Lohiʻau. This kahea is used today to serve as an entrance chant requesting permission to enter.
