Lyrics

We are the rust worshipping the rain

Can I believe in anything
I’ve got a doubters mind
But that don’t give me the rope
It’s not enough
So call the cavalry
The cavalry
God give me some hope
‘Cause I’ve been living in a deficit
For so long….

Don’t turn the page ‘cause your blood’ll run cold
Parting the seas isn’t free and it’s getting old
You’re gonna choke when you drink from the fountain
We are the rust worshipping the rain
I’ve got a band aid on a bullet wound
If I refuse to break through I can never lose
There’s a trap at the peak of the mountain
We are the rust worshipping the rain

I’m so afraid of everything
I think my courage died
This is a slippy slope
So lock the cuffs
Because I’m powerless
So powerless
I just can’t cope
‘Cause I’ve been living in a deficit

A libertine
Stole the keys
And drove this machine
Without me

It’s too much but its not enough
So cold but I’m burning up
I’m trying to swim
But I’m treading water

Its unclear but it’s obvious
Three cheers for this emptiness
I’m trying to swim
Yeah, I’m trying
I’m trying
I’m trying

I’m treading water
‘Cause I’ve been living in a deficit

Epitaph Records is an artist-first indie label founded in Los Angeles by Bad Religion guitarist, Brett Gurewitz. Early releases from a variety of punk heavyweights helped launch the 90s punk explosion. Along the way, Epitaph has grown and evolved creatively while sticking to its mission of helping real artists make great recordings on their own terms.

As a relatively new Architect fan, I'm enjoying the hell out of hearing their old and new music. This song digs hard!

Is it too hard to understand that they can't be the same band since they lost their main writer almost 5 YEARS AGO? Tom is not here to save day. He gave us some of the best songs in metal and music history, but this is them now, this is Dan, Josh, Sam, Ali and Adam, without Tom, and it's fucking mental. Just learn to move on and learn that things can't be the same forever. Nothing will ever be repeated the same way it once was.

And everyone was worried about there not being any "Heavy" songs. This is DOPE AF

This track genuinely feels stronger than most of the singles they dropped. Nice variety, some heavy bits, and a solid hook. Makes it puzzling as to why this is a "deep dive" track and not something they'd show off sooner.

OMG this and "Impermeance" are the best songs on the album.

This has to be the most aggressive anyone has ever been when saying the word “slippy”

The amount of symbolism etched into those 7 lines is actually insane. 10/10 writing.

Architects on every album since Hollow Crown have had at least 1 or more soft/experimental. Real fans know they switch up every few albums. This albums amazing.
