Joseph F. Smith's Vision of the Afterlife

What happens after we die? How is the gospel preached to those who are dead? What did Christ do while in the Spirit World? Joseph F. Smith, the sixth president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had a vision to answer such questions. This vision is now recorded in Doctrine and Covenants section 138.

I am 95, baptized in 1953. I wish everybody could have had the spectacular confirmation I received that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is truly His restored gospel. In my long life I have encountered many detractors. To those who think that way I say life goes by like a streak of lightning and the light will dawn for everyone soon enough. Please know, however, that Our Heavenly Father loves all 8 billion of us.

When I turned 23, I prayed to know whether Joseph Smith was a prophet of the Lord... whether the Book of mormon was true... whether Jesus was the Christ... and whether the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the Lord Jesus Christ's true and living church...

The spirit of God came upon me with such power that I felt like I was floating and to this very day... I can clearly state this... Jesus is the Christ the literal Son of God... Joseph Smith was called by God to be a prophet! The Book of Mormon is the word of God! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only True and living church... and as it's president when he recieved this revelation D&C 138 is a true revelation from the Lord our God and is also True!

In March/April 2023 I was in Salt Lake for the first time. I visited the Beehive house and stood in the room where President Joseph F. Smith had the vision. I felt the spirit confirming the truth of this vision. What a blessing this is for all mankind who and lived and will live on the earth.

Despite having prior knowledge of this marvelous revelation, watching this video has rekindled a new sense of hope within me.

I died and went to straight home to God. Jesus escorted me, and He was with me the entire time. God Himself was hidden behind mist and light. I knew that this meant I was dead and would be sent back. The angels were there, and most looked like beings of light.
But from this world, ONLY my family who were in Christ were there. I knew that many were missing, that they were supposed to be there, but they did not accept Christ. My great-grandfather was front and center to greet me. He was so young and was absolutely perfect (he died when I was 11 months old). Holding onto my right arm were four children, which I believe were my grandchildren, yet to be born, and yet to die.
I don't remember our conversations, but afterward, Jesus turned me around and sent me back.
This is not the only time that I most thoroughly died, but it's the one I remember the best.

Beautiful. I'm trying to become less myopic in the mortal realm. I know we can't make it through without the vision & faith of what joy lies beyond this realm.
The final shaking is upon us. The dollar is being destroyed. But I praise the Lord & pray that America will remember their covenant to the Most High God.

What a great use of drone footage, artifacts, well-sourced documentary clips, photos, and artwork to enhance learning of a vital principle, life after death! Thank you so much. I was recently in Salt Lake City Cemetery and found myself positively befuddled, even with a map, to make any sense of the place. After hours of disappointment, I resigned myself to return the next day to try again. Blessedly, this time, a grave digger was divinely appointed to run into me and sweetly took me to each of my six ancestors' grave locations that I was unable to locate the previous day, two of whom were found to not even have any markers anymore. I have since determined that the pull I felt to honor them by visiting their resting place was to make sure their graves get markers for fellow ancestors like me to be able to find their graves a little easier.

I am grateful for these teachings. Thank you for sharing these stories/history of one of Heavenly Father’s prophet. I know he was a prophet of God. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the kingdom of God here on earth. Critics will always have much to say but what’s new? This great man, probably more distraught than I will ever know, when all seemed lost, he went to the scriptures as we are all directed to do. And what happens? He received one of the greatest visions ever given. I believe he was well deserving of that privilege.
