In this series, we'll look at the 11 different biomes that ecologists study. We'll discuss the specific climate, plants, and animals found in each biome. The Temperate Forest is one of the eleven biomes on Planet Earth. The word "Temperate" lets you know that this is not a place of extremes, but rather sort of average! There are four seasons, but still it never gets TOO hot or TOO cold. That's partly because there is fairly consistent precipitation, and the water vapor in the air helps maintain the even temperature. Compare that with the desert, where the temps can swing wildly from burning hot to freezing cold in the same day.
In this video, we'll look at the characteristic plants of the Temperate Forest Biome - it should come as no surprise that trees are involved in a forest, but you may not know that it's especially the trees that change color in autumn that can be found here. We also meet some of the animals that call this biome home.
