Had this sled a couple seaaons ago and switched to a Rossi Jib Elite because of that slow speed twitch. I just didn't get along with it. But it was a beauty otherwise. This review is effing spot on. Capita's textured bases are unreal, best in the industry far as I can tell. Kinetic energy was there underfoot, more reactive and not quite as damp and stable as the Jib Elite but still solid. But gawddammmm the speed was ridiculously awesomated. Only my Stratos has a similar speed but I think the Merc still took the title. For any dudes curious I had it paired with Cartel X's and that was sick, but I think a Bataleon binding woulda been even better for some sweet dampening.

It's a great allmountain Snowboard not a freestyle imo. It is for someone who likes to ride piste, powder, hit some park occasionaly, jumps and wants to have one board. Death grip feels catchy when flat basing, board wants to stay on adge all the time but on the other hand grips well on hard and icy snow. The only problem with this board is since it does everything well, the other boards in your quiver stop making any sens.

“ Add a spoiler to my snowboard” I’m definitely buying it now.

Big fan of brands expanding their size ranges to create more unisex boards. As much as i do like my lady boards, its nice to be able to make more informed decisions and the unisex boards tend to have a lot more reviews and information out there about them.

I have the predecessor to the Mercury, the Totally FK’n Awesome. Mine is light (back in the day they used the higher end bamboo core). Got on it again last winter and the thing I noticed is how easy it is to ride compared to the fully cambered boards I have been on recently. It really takes the mental load off so you can concentrate on your riding more. The twitch is real. You just need to get used to it. You don’t have the beautiful carves of a cambered board, or the pop, but it felt super comfortable and just made me more confident riding hard. What’s interesting is that whereas a cambered board wants to lock you into a fixed arc, this sidecut allows you to tighten up or lengthen out your carves without thinking, which makes it really manoeuvrable on the fly, like if you’re lining up a takeoff in choppy snow. Capita really discovered some secret sauce with this shape, and it’s no wonder so many pros are still riding it. A true classic.

an idea for a future top 5 video i would love to see is 'top 5 old school boards' maybe boards they dont make any more which you remember from back in the old school days :D that would be a really fun interesting video !

anyway thanks for the consistent content and helping the snowboarders of the internet keep shredding

I bought one because of this review and it’s a 🎉cking tree hit side pow demon can’t ride the thing without dropping someone’s jaw. Someone said you’ll pass skiers on cat tracks; confirmed.

Every capita mercury in the Denver area marketplace right now is up for sale for being “too much board” 👹👹

hey hey, thanks for your no BS approach. it’s refreshing. 5’7”, 170lb lower level intermediate rider here looking to progress. i’ve been frustrated/intimidated by tracked out cruddy mid-afternoon conditions at crowded resorts. some of this is skill, some might be my gear. your reviews have led me to jones frontier, ride shadowban, and this mercury. im good on blue groomers, want to progress to some steeper terrain, perhaps some easier bowls in colorado, and get better at riding the cruddy stuff. i don’t want to bite off more than i can chew with board selection. advice?

Looking for a size suggestion. I’m a good intermediate rider, 170 to 175 lbs.i ride mountain freeride, not a park or rail guy. I’m 5’10 and a 9.5 size boot. I have Union force bindings in a medium. What size do you recommend? I already have the mega death in a 159, wanting a daily driver as well.

I have this bad boy on my wall looking at me since summer when I bought it, can’t wait to finally ride it on Sunday!

Coming from a 6 year old Burton Process, I think the pop will be awesome in the Merc.
Thanks for the great review!

It’s so much harder to find boards in the uk for a decent price since brexit. I’m in Austria at the moment and can see one of these in my size at a local shop for 500eur. Seems like a decent price. I’ve ridden a park board for years but looking for something much faster and more all mountain.

Hey angry would nitro team bindings be a good choice?

Hi, great review and thanks for your effort. Sounds really great to do it all. I will wait if you drop a review of the mega merc to take my choice. But at the moment I think the normal Mercury will be my choice for a all day board.

Thanks for the review! How would you compare it to the Korua Otto? Trying to pick a board to progress with side-hits and carving while not constantly fighting with it.
