Seller: Just needs an O2 sensor
Buyer: finds out cats are missing.

That is genius - remove the light bulbs behind the dashboard and the car won't have any problems whatsoever.

I was born and raised in Detroit decades ago and taught by my dad that a car is basically like a screwdriver- merely a tool one uses to go from point A to point B and back again. He taught me that if you cant pay cash for the car you want, then you cannot afford the car you want, it's that simple. You dont take out a loan to buy a screwdriver so why would you take out a loan to buy any other tool?

The best thing is to ask the seller if they mind if I could have my tech check it before I buy it. If they object, DON'T BUY IT

Seller: just needs a transmission sensor
Buyer: needs to replace whole transmission

If you have a check engine light and you open the hood and it's still there then you're all sett. That light is there to just remind you to check for your engine

Yeah, I prefer to pay for a thorough inspection at a shop that I know and trust, doesn't cost all that much and you get a far more detailed idea about the condition of the desired vehicle.

I'mnew to this, this has happened to me. I bought a car last October 2021. The car looked absolutely fine and had no check engine light but after driving for 3-4 days all of a sudden check engine light appeared. It's a minor issue but still, people can scam you and that's when I learned from my mistake. I wish i had seen your this video first..

I bought a chevy truck with CEL disabled. Doesn't come on at all. There was a trouble code after i bought it and it was just an 80$ evap canister. Replaced it myself. I was disappointed at first but had no problems.

Scotty:just because the check engine light isn’t on doesn’t mean n you don’t have a problem with it

Me:just because the check engine is on doesn’t mean it’s a junker

Scotty, another scam is when you go to the dealer or independent these auto warranty companies buy your info to sell you a policy for repairs they claim they cover.
It is irritating that our info is sold without our permission.
My vehicle is 13 years old yet they say they they cover the repairs. Still I tell them HOGWASH.

Yes dealerships can’t get away with that. Record the whole conversation. Take them to court.

Yep bought a car way over the price it was worth but the problems with it aren't huge and ain't nothing I can't do. So whatever I guess. We didn't have a check engine light and didn't for a few days. Then it popped on and it was a $2 hose and an abs module. Which are easy fixes. Had to get new breaks and front rotars and I'll need shocks and end tire rods in the front. But the car has 200, 000 miles it's a Toyota and it still has many more miles to go. I know enough about cars to know the engine was well cared for. Also it came with new tires. transmission fluid was nice and red and drive well. Also no signs of bad head gasket. Which in this Toyota would be a job but easier than the Mazda we had before.

reminds me of the old volvos that had wiring harness issues, used to just take the lambda bulb out 😂
