Unless you have an appointment at my home, I don't answer my door. PERIOD.

Just think what a different world we would have if fraudsters and scammers spent all that time and energy actually contributing to society.

I don't answer my phone or my door unless I know them. Even now that's not enough.

I ignore emails, texts, odd sales pitches on FB and anyone that comes to the door unexpected, they meet my dog first. They are dumb enough to try and open, they meet me and my Beretta.

They target the elderly where thought processes are a bit slower. They scare them and that is the emotion. When someone reports it, nothing happens until a lot of people report the same problem. Don't hold back; report anything right away. I was victimized by a family stopping at my home and requesting money to get to Miami and yet had a temp California plate for a brand new SUV. The woman barged into my house because we are elderly and disabled. She kept trying to sell crap jewelry. She scouted our entire house and kept opening dresser drawers to dump the jewelry. I was scared that the family would return and either squat or steal or claim we stole that crap jewelry. We were not even in the house but in the yard working. What happened when reported? We are in fear as zero happened.

We finally got a Ring doorbell so we don't have to go to the door to check.

The scammers (from places no one knows) know that not all Westerners are created equally. Some are very easy to scam.

The scamming is just horrendous! To protect the elder family members I would educate them on a daily basis. For those with Dementia or Alzheimer’s it is a good idea to get them an iPhone if they don’t already have one and setup the Accessibility which limits what they have access to on their phone and you can also setup who they can receive calls from, so they will no longer receive scam calls! 😊
