Iran vows revenge on Israel

Mojtaba Amani, Iran’s ambassador in Lebanon, said his country would not allow the region “to be prey” for the US and Israel.

Speaking to reporters in Beirut, Amani added: “The Iranian response is definitely coming. Therefore, the Israelis will receive the appropriate response to this terrorist operation."

Hamas said Ismail Haniyeh, the group’s political leader and a prominent member since the 1980s, had been killed in Tehran, where he attended the inauguration of the new Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian.
