Thailand senate approves same-sex marriage bill | BBC News

The upper house of Thailand's parliament has approved a law giving equal marriage rights to same sex couples.

It will now be sent to the Thai King for royal assent.

Once the law receives royal approval, Thailand will become the third place in Asia - after Taiwan and Nepal - to allow same-sex marriage.

As a gay person from Thailand, this is a significant achievement. We are glad to receive the basic benefits of the marriage ruling. Also, I firmly believe that the Thai economy will improve, particularly the tourism sector, which constitutes the majority of Thailand's economy. Moreover, we hope that this voice is amplified as the first step for the other 13 groups (e.g., the disability community, the ethnic groups) in the pursuit of human rights.

Some of these comments are so stupid talking about Jesus or God because Thailand is not a Christian country it's buddhist and Buddhism accepts homosexuality I'm also glad of this news but they should have done this earlier I hope Japan and singapore do this in the future❤
