When he says "But there are times when a critic truly risks something" it implies he was already ready to step down as a critic.

This is legitimately one of the best film endings ever.

I love how Anton got a little more colorful and put on a little more weight at the end. He's been enjoying himself very much as a small business investor.

Lovely little detail is how he obviously was thinking so hard about it, wandering around his room, pondering. Whilst earlier he was typing like a machine.

3:13 - I love to think the customers Ego greeted were fans of his. They didn't cared about the rat problem. They trusted Ego's word.

I've always loved how the rats have their own dining area.

Anton getting a little more color and meat on his bones is very so much more meaningful considering that he admits he only eats when he loves the food. Mans been enjoying life lately.

A movie that doesn't need a sequel

This monologue by Ego is legitimately profound. It shows how sometimes we get so wrapped up in being "above everything" that we forget the genuinely beautiful moments that come with human experience, things we didn't care about hiding when we were young. Zest for life is in leaning into the unknown and enjoying the moments in front of us. Like plate of food labored over to make us smile.

10 years ago last week, Anton Ego's voice was silenced when Peter O'Toole passed away. This scene is truly inspirational when giving food a review. I don't like food. I LOVE food. RIP Peter. Thank you once again for a remarkable career.

Nothing makes me more happier than a grumpy successful man risking it all to find happiness and contentment in his retirement. Did you see how happy he was? One can only wish for happiness like that at the end of his/her years.

I've seen this film a million times and I had never picked up on the fact that Ego's carreer as a small business investor signals his newfound commitment to support up and coming talent after meeting Remy

The song coming in always brings happy tears. I love this song and I love his quote "not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere."

Everything everyone lost, the gustaus restaurant, ego’s credibility, but they made a better option by making a business on a new restaurant where they knew it was rats cooking and made a happy ending to a sad ending of gustau’s restaurant

Anton's "surprise me!" with Remy's wink afterwards never fails to make me smile.

1:55-2:04 - Found it symbolizing here that unlike the first time when Remy looked at it and walked away on four feet, he was depressed and his uncertain future with the lights turning off after he leaves off screen. However, this time he was walking on two feet that shows how he’s satisfied over his success and signaling a bright future ahead for him with lights turning off as he leaves at the right time.
