Enki: The Water God Who Became Lord of Life | Sumerian mythology
Показать описание
Enki, one of the creator gods among the Sumerian pantheon, originally governed water, later expanding to include earth, wisdom, trickery, intelligence, and knowledge due to his linked characteristics to these elements. He is also recognized as the lord of life despite the authority of his brother, Enlil, and father, Anu. Enki's city, Eridu, is the oldest of the Sumerian cities. In Babylonian legends, Enki is the son of the god Apsu, but this relationship doesn't appear in Sumerian legends. Enki resides in deep waters and appears in imagery that resembles a submarine. His sacred number is 40, and he has a minister named Isimo. Unlike other gods, Enki is considered a friend of humanity and their savior. His role includes banishing demons and fostering creation of various divine lineages.
