About a month ago, we attempted to upgrade from Windows 1.0 to Windows 7 on the 98 PC. Today, we're attempting that same experiment with the Windows NT releases. Let's see how far we can get!

I always liked how older versions of windows allowed you to customize the colors of so many parts of the UI. To do that on Windows 10 you gotta go into high contrast mode, and even then you gotta edit your saved theme file in a text editor to change titlebar colors because high contrast mode doesn't let you do that through the settings panel. Must be an oversight. One of my themes is based off the Fallout 3 Pipboy.

I hate messages like “General Failure” and “Unknown Error”
Something called the piece of code to tell me there was an error — what called it, and what was it doing!?!

I feel like you could open a Microsoft Windows museum, if not a theme park.

Michael, I just wanted to say thank you for this content in these trying times. I love your honesty in videos, I love how quick you deliver a promise you made in a video (the fact that you keep it at all is fascinating) I love that you have a calm voice, you are calm in the videos, and it just really feels like having an everyday conversation with a friend. Cheers!

You might’ve been able to install Windows NT 3.1 by setting up DOS, copying the files from the CD-ROM onto the hard drive, then install from there. That’s how I did so on a Pentium 100.

42:32 the file association may be broken during upgrade
for a freshly installed Windows 2000, when you create a .bmp file, it says "Bitmap Image" (Windows 98 is like this as well)
rather than "Paintbrush Picture", and the icon was the small new Microsoft Paint icon
the latter must have come from NT 3.51 I guessed

I managed to catch this only 11 minutes after it was posted, I'm glad to see the win98PC again! Thanks so much for keeping these entertaining and informative vids going through quarentine, your channel has really kept me busy lately and I love your videos! Keep up the good work! It's always a lot of fun getting to watch these upgrade videos and seeing how you tackle problems you encounter, as well as getting to learn a bit about windows OSes as well

I love your videos.

I love to automate things because I’m lazy. If you save a file in notepad with the .log file extension, it will automatically add a timestamp at the end of the file every time you save. This may be useful to you in future videos where you want a timestamp in a text file like you did in this video.

Keep up the good work!

Someone may have already mentioned this, but the Reversi problem may be because it still has the Windows 2.0 version installed because you were never able to get Windows 3.0 to properly install. In the other video, it was the 3.0 version of Reversi that kept working in future versions of Windows.
