I use my Ray Ban SmartGlasses almost daily for taking pics, videos & asking the time without carrying my phone. They are more useful then regular sunglasses!

Silicon carbide was the semiconductor material that enabled the blue LED and with it the white LED revolution in the late 90s. It was in lighting far before power mgmt. Cree Research invented the technology before it became a commodity in the 2010s. It has since rebranded itself as Wolfspeed.

I remember reading about them around 6 months ago they cannot be mass manufactured because silicon carbide waveguide tech is considered too high tech to be given to china

Meta has a big problem, but with these Orion glasses, that problem could become history. As it stands, users can only watch Facebook and Instagram ads when they have at least one hand free. With these Orion glasses, users will be able to watch Facebook and Instagram ads for as long as they stay awake. I guess the next big problem is how to show ads while users are sleeping — but I’m sure Meta already has a prototype for a nightcap that will inject Facebook and Instagram ads into our brains while we sleep.

0:33 Ed looks like a synth, with that serious look on his face.

So will there be a version with prescription using the new material instead of glass? I’d expect everyone won’t wear contacts.

Having watched this video and some others, I have absolutely no understanding how this works or what it does. What about Quest 3S?

So, Meta just gave me a sneak peek into the future with their new Orion AR glasses. ** I'm not sure if I should be impressed or terrified. Imagine walking down the street and having your every thought projected onto a giant screen. Privacy? Who needs it? #Meta #AR #Orion #futuretech #privacywho?
