All of the DJI hype is cool...but what about Fuji tho?!

I love how y’all are one of the only or few mainstream camera channels that reviews FujiFilm. Especially since I shoot on FujiFilm, cheers 🙌🏼

Man I’m so happy to find this channel guys! I’ve been shooting Fujifilm for years now as my weekend and family kit, started with an XTone then added an XTtwo and XTthree, then sold the two and three but kept the one, which I’ll never sell...but have now just ordered an XS10 and I’m so excited.
All the while my professional kit has been an EOS R for the past year, Sony A73 before that, and the Panasonic GH4 and G85 before that. So I’m really excited for the XS 10 to get more cinematic footage for this channel.
Thanks,
Adam

You’ve seriously got the cleanest and most concise presentation of any reviewer. Especially for video users of the Fuji system. Thanks man. You’ve sold me. Time to get rid of my 27mk2 and 16f1.4. Bye Felicia!

Good review! I would say this lens is perfect for both wedding photographers and documentary photographers though. In weddings the 16mm f/1.4 is great for group shots but is a little too wide and distorts faces a bit around the edges by virtue of its focal length, while the 18mm I always find myself just hitting the mark and filling the frame perfectly in group scenes with the faces still holding a pleasing look. The extra stop of light means that I can bring the focal length of my beloved 18mm f/2 indoors. (I'll still stick with the 18 f/2 for street though, that lens is an under-rated wonder.) Likewise the 18mm focal length is also perfect for environmental portraits which is the stock in trade for the documentary photographer, and it's a perfect focal length to carry through into night shoots and low-light stuff. Kind of the view that the great Eugene Richards or Joseph Rodriguez carries. So outside of video I'd say anyone who trades in the above should seriously look at this one. Myself I'm thinking of trading my 16mm f/1.4 for it. The 16 f/1.4 is a great lens, but I've always found it a little too wide - Fujifilm haf answered me prayers!

Great job man! Haha, I admire your boldness about customizing your camera, even if I hate the gold 🤣.

Glad you're on the Moment team!

got one on route to review but its still a tough sell for me when the f2.8 kit lens is so damn solid at 18mm.

might change my mind when I get my hands on it.

At 1:44 I legitimately thought that the backdrop behind you was all a mural wall, so my brain began to fold in on itself distressingly as I saw your daughter seemingly do Matrix moves up the wall and into some imaginary painted land. Then I realised that it was in fact a green embankment that existed in real-space and I could relax. Phew.

I love the 28mm focal length on my full-frame cameras, so this would be perfect for getting into the Fuji Film ecosystem. Thank you for making my decision easier!

Just picked up the 18 mm 1.4 and haven’t had a chance to go photograph with it yet. Will do so tomorrow. So far I really like what I have, as it’s the perfect white angle lens for street photography.
My other to go to street lenses are the 50 F2 and the 90 F 2.
Your settings confuse me, as you have too many switching’s going on, I would just prefer to know your best overall settings.
I believe I’ve dialed in mine pretty good now, but I still miss from time to time on the 90 F2. 🤔

I rented this guy and absolutely LOVE it. Might be my new favorite lens. the 16MM and 56MM were my favorites before. Sharpest fuji lens I have used, great autofocus, quiet, and WR. Close focus is almost the same as the 16mm. The contrast is better and that little extra compression makes for much more pleasing bokeh and less distortion for shooting people.

Unfortunately at 1:49 you can still see the lens motor zipping in the background which would make the lens' autofocus unusable for more important work. I love Fuji cameras but their lens system for Fuji X is the most over-priced optics for what they are that you can possibly buy. Most of the 1.4 lenses are really old designs so optically not great at all. On the other hand, the Samyang/Rokinon UMC lenses, like the 21mm 1.4 for instance, have superb optics, at a quarter of the cost without autofocus.

Thank you so much for the very in-depth review! I have been researching for a lens for documentaries, and fillmmaking to be used with my new Fujifilm XT30. I'm only a hobbyist by the way. I will be creating short community stories with it so this 18mm may be a good fit. I like that it's very quiet, and quick too...although I can see it's a bit pricy but it will be worth it. I like how you described how the automatic focus can follow you well, and how the F-Stops works along the refocusing. I'm still learning about this since I got my camera two weeks ago, but I love it! I'll continue to read about lenses, and watch more of your videos, and others, since I have much to learn! Best wishes with your productions!

I kinda wish Fujifilm comes out with a wide angle 12, 13 or 14mm as well In the near future.

Hi everyone, in 7:43, sequence in the right isn't too clear for 1.4 fstop. Am i missing something?

I can’t believe you painted the camera. I love it!

Great review! I feel that putting the AF mode on multi makes the camera scattered and overwhelmed despite having face tracking on. I would try single point AF and keep it on the middle with face tracking + eye AF. Hope that helps 🙏🏼
