when i scoped out the ships with my spyglass the armor was a drop from a ship called the ardent. it was actually one of the smaller ships.

My friend got a Black Prinz from the legendary treasure map, I was jealous. This one is quite common tbh, got 5 of them, only one from boarding, 3 from the event and one from the PVE heist event.

I can confirm that you can get the armor from sinking the ships as well and I got it first try (maybe guaranteed drop).

I've got this armor on my Brigatine. I've only had it a few days but can't remember where I got it now. I'm sure I didn't get it from attacking this convoy though. It's not the sort of thing I would normally attempt in the eastern ocean yet.

I got 2 of the armor. You don't need to board the ships. It is just really rare, i somehow got both of my 2 royal custodian armors on the first try.

If you scout the golden ships through your spyglass it'll actually tell you the loot they are carrying

I got mine from doing the PVE helm takeover that comes up alongside the pvp ones. Actually pulled in 3 of them doing it twice. First completion got me 2 and the second completion got me the third one.
