The V5 Ibis Ripley Brings More 'Rip' to the Ripley

The all-new fifth generation Ibis Ripley is longer, lower, and slacker than ever before; so much so that I actually went down one frame size for this review! So it should come as no surprise that the new bike is more capable in the chunk, but does it still retain the same playful agility the previous models are known for? We spent some time on the middle of the range Ripley XT build to find out, and it's safe to say we weren't disappointed!

I would like to mention a couple of amazing aspects of this IBIS that truly sets them apart. The small frame not only has different geo but also has smaller tubing. The rims are the the only rims that are i35mm while the rest of the world uses i30mm. The in frame storage bags are made with up-sourced materials and unique colors for each individual bag, not some mass factory product. Truly environmentally conscious.

Great review Josh. Ibis's sizing is quite confusing. I'm 5'9' and leaning towards a medium. I've been thinking about building one up as a mullet

Hi. First of all, thanks and congrats on such a good review.

Given your experience, how would the Ripley V5 perform with a Pike and a Super Deluxe with piggyback?
Where do you think it will gain and lose?
I was thinking on building one a bit more capable without going for the bigger Ripmo.

Thanks for your opinion.

Nice bike! At 6'2" do you think I'd have more fun on a large than xl?

Since it has the flip chip, would it be possible to run 27.5 front and rear?

Have you ridden the Ripmo yet? What are your thoughts on it?

Does it use bearings in the pivots or are they still using bushings?

You did not compare to the Revel Rascal V2.

Who would stupid and clueless enough to write a review of the 5th generation and not compare the "performance" to the 4th generation when you know the whole world is complaining they destroyed the snappy, playful, light, sporty, cross country/trail bike (all previous versions) for a boring heavier version (v5) more Ripmo-like version so they could save money and use the same frame. it is, someone made such review. lol...incredible.
