Two new faces appear in this reaction video!!! Did I recruit flute players just so I could show them 'Birthday' and 'Work'...? You'll never know for certain...
Honor and Helen will be joining our team for Season 8 of our 'Classical & Jazz Musicians React' series! Honor is a current first year grad student and Helen is a current third year undergrad student, both are flute performance majors at Eastman and have been into K-Pop casually since ~2018-2020. Hope you enjoyed watching! Let's get this video up to 5K likes ;D

I dont care what anyone says I think Jongho playing a flute backwards to the sound of a bass clarinet is HILARIOUS
BriBee
the screams let out at the end are exactly the way i, an ex floutist, screamed when I first saw the Work music video.
but also, shout out to jongho, he must have been told or looked up the correct way to hold a flute, because at their most recent Work performance at an awards show he was holding it correctly!

I think one of the points in the work video is the sheer goofiness and betrayal of expectations. Jongho "playing" a flute instead of a bass clarinet, Seonghwa riding an ostrich who he later refuels at a gas station, San mining for gold and getting coins, San also at the end when he's unscrewing the pipe valve ends up with water spraying everywhere, but an atiny online said that they actually would have expected oil, and there's more examples that I can't think of now. One thing is that when they teased the instrumental on soundcloud it was in the title of the clarinet track or the picture for it that it was actually a clarinet, so the group and producers definitely knew that. My theory is that it would have been hard to have Jongho playing a clarinet while buried underground lol

The synchronised reactions to the "flute" playing in Work KILLED ME
shookpotato
To be fair, Jongho is left-handed which is probably why he held it on that side. And as a former clarinet player, it absolutely killed me when I saw/heard it for the first time too 😂

10:45 "That's a BASS CLARINET!!!" I felt that scream 😂😂😂
RestFromTheStreets
Oh gosh as an ex-clarinetist, i remember absolutely losing my shxx when the flute came out 😂 turns out that he actually didnt know how to hold it and later fans told him. His reaction was "ohh no wonder. My wrist hurt" 😂😂😂

As an ex floutist it made me crazy the way they put that flute in his hands, not to mention the sound was a clarinet. 😅😅
Edit, a bass clarinet apparently.😊😊
LisaMT

Been waiting for ATEEZ reaction! Hopefully Ice On My Teeth soon? Cause I think you guys gonna love it. The violin ugh is just so good (in my opinion) 😭😘👌🏻
lunesteorra
The trick at the end into the last chorus/outro of Birthday is just a measure of 2/4 and it stays in the regular tempo but the percussive sound they use is also what they used to actually slow down into Hongjoong’s verse so it tricks your brain into thinking the tempo changes.
Also as a flautist, long time viewer of this channel, and someone who ults Ateez you really said FOR YOU with this video haha. Someone did teach Jongho at a fansign how to hold the flute properly lmao and then at an awards show (I think, maybe a festival I can’t remember) he held it properly 😭
brynmarie
Lol, work is meant to be hilarious. Cause when you realize that there's no way the producers and the production team doesn't know it's not a flute
