Thanks, my HOTB aqueon filter stopped today. Watching your video encouraged me to take a second look at it, disassemble it, scrape out the algae on the magnet, and now its working again. Saved me $$$ cause i was thinking of going to get a replacement. THANKS!

Thank you! I thought I was going nuts that I couldn't pull out my impeller. Found your video to confirm that it was what I was supposed to be doing so I didn't damage it. Come to find out the reason it stopped was from the pin being stuck so the impeller came out with the pin too. Much rather spend $10 on a new pin (with backup) than shuck out another $50 on a whole new unit.

Great - my filter has lost all of its power. I pulled it apart, cleaned it, a nd it quickly lost power again. I didn't think to look in this motor part - I am going to try that! I absolutely hate waste, especially plastic, and hope to keep this out of the landfill. <3

I replaced the shaft it was 3 years old and badly worn, but its still making a lot of noise. Do I have to replace the impeller as well ( does it wear out / get smaller like the shaft does causing it to shake?)

My impeller shaft broke at the very bottom of the motor on my aquaclear 110 . I cannot pull the tiny remaining part of the shaft in the motor . What options do i have of getting it out . A needlesnose is much too big . Am i screwed or is it possible to drill from the bottom of the motor to get it out and glue a new shaft in ?? Thanks :)

Like the video, just wish they had the motor under water so it would self prime. Live out in country with a lot of power outages and smaller blips of it being out for a couple minutes. Have had to go to other brands that will restart.

Funny I just had to fix one yesterday! At the risk of sounding like a perv. I put vaseline on the shaft, not kidding it helps.

What if the pin comes out of the motor? Can that be fixed or does it need replaced?

The problem with mine is the metal pin comes right out and basically just sits in there its not fixed or attached to anything and i cant seem to figure out how to attach it back. Everything still works i just have to prod the impeller a bit with a stick to get it started up and then it works fine it just makes rattling noise which is really annoying.

My impeller isn’t balanced . It bounces around and makes a horrible rattling sound. Have tried 3 different impellers

My 110 cracked i used superglue and baking soda to repair him stil going strong after almost 17 years.Dont forget some vasaline on the metal shaft if the motor.
