Melodifestivalen is an annual song competition organised by Swedish public broadcasters Sveriges Television (SVT) and Sveriges Radio (SR). It determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, and has been staged almost every year since 1959. In the early 2000s, the competition was the most popular television programme in Sweden; it is also broadcast on radio and the Internet. In 2012, the heats averaged 3.3 million viewers, and over an estimated four million people in Sweden watched the final, almost half of the Swedish population.

Just got back from Stockholm! Great show and a betterfinal than last years. Exciting voting this year. ANders is a cute 'bamse' but the song so Swedish formula. I'm glad that Cornelia won, she went against the grain and gave an authentic and raw performance. Bra jobba! Let's see how our 'wolves' perform against Cornelia!

1986, 1995, 2005 (!!!) and 2013 are years where I would personally have loved the runner-ups to actually win it - in the latter two, they actually even won the televote!

Danny Saucedo was really unlucky. Both of his songs could’ve won any other year, especially Amazing which could’ve definitely placed in the top 5 in Eurovision at least. He just so happened to compete the same year as Eric Saade and Loreen.

2005 - I still think Nanne - Håll om mig could've won Eurovision but damn Swedish jury had to send the most famous person with a stupid vegas song.
2008 - Sanna Nielsen - Empty Room televote favourite but again the Swedish jury voted the famous person. Undo got a Top 3, Empty Room was a Top 1.
2013 - Yohio he wouldn't win Eurovision but it was definitely better than You, again blame the jury although this time it was an international jury.
2022 - Thank u international jury haha. Ppl were blinded by the famous person sad story of self-improvement with a speedup version of Quedate Conmigo Spain 2012 same producer too.
