It’s been a long time coming, but Sony have finally unveiled the first pro spec controller (and first professional grade controller full stop) for the PS5. The DualSense Edge features a raft of upgraded features and a tweaked appearance; it’s a premium controller commanding a premium price tag, and it certainly isn’t designed to cater for every player.

The question is though, for those who do take the plunge, are the upgraded features worth it? Here’s a rundown of the 10 most important things to know before pre-ordering the DualSense Edge.

As someone who’s had 3 scuff controllers all I can say is if the controller doesn’t break easily or the thumb sticks rub off badly I couldn’t care less about the battery life.

Yeah I’ll definitely be getting this. I need a third controller because my left analog keeps bubbling up. Im glad this new controller gives you the option to replace the analogs.

having to replace the sticks instead of the whole controller is a huge W!! was always on the fence about pro controllers since the sticks are always the first thing to give.

Also, if you have a door connected to the console with a wire that won’t be the issue because it’s a long enough wire it’s been designed so that you can have it connected with the wire. I’m not shorten the life of the battery. I hope this helps unresolved issues on most the community and yourself from a technical point of you. Thanks for the video do appreciate it by and take care

Great info. I was looking to replace my faulty dualsense controller but I decided to spend the extra money and get the Edge. All the extra features look great. I don't care if it has no battery life at all. I play hardwired. I don't care about appearance. I use the controller to play games, not to sit and look at the controller. As far as the price, I'll pay it knowing I won't have the controller failing on me like every other playstation controller I've ever owned. And if a stick fails, it's a cheap and easy fix.

I have an extremerate with adaptive triggers and an aim controller with clicky triggers. The elite looks great, my only reservation is more often than not, I end up programming all 4 buttons to the back.

Yep its disappointing that the battery is weak, hopefully the cable is super long though.

What I don't understand is it's 200 dollars and Sony can not add another battery or a bigger one??? What's up with that?? For that price, this thing should last twice as long as the standard one.

I’d like to add the DualSense Edge doesn’t have support for remote play, particularly on iOS devices (I can’t say if android has same trouble since I don’t own one.).

Considering current 3rd party pro options run for $250 US and come with a fraction of the features this controller has to offer, $200 is a hell of a deal. It even comes with a carrying case with separate parts. I had to buy a separate case for my $250 scuff controller. I wish I had waited 😅😩😑
