ball python temperament is known to be amazing, if you want a snake that is unlikely to bite, a ball python is perhaps the best option. Another great snake

I have a corn snake, a ball Python and a hognose snake and honestly, all of them are personable. They all seem to like handling and exploring. Maybe I just have a particularly social hognose but she’s very sweet and she actually comes out if you call her name.

For me the answer is 100% a dwarf or super dwarf reticulated Python. Mine is about 2 and a half years old, 7 feet long and she is the most “social” snake I have ever had. She will leave the hide and come up to her glass to greet me, she’s active and explorative, and the most patient snake I have ever handled. She’s weirdly chill about almost everything, not even head shy.

Cornsnakes are a lot like house snakes as far as personality imo. I’ve held a African house snake at an expo and they explore a little like corns and it was super chill with being held.

I’ve had a black African house snake for nearly a year now and barely heard anything about them, but as of recent I’ve seen all kinds of videos about them being great. It’s nice seeing they have been getting the recognition they deserve.

Ive been terrified of snakes until i found you, Tyler, and Brian about 8 months ago. I watched soooo many videos, read so much and then went to repticon two weeks I came home with a baby glades rat snake and im in love!

“Let’s talk about North American colubrids!”

Yes, please. A whole video on them. There’s so much beautiful variety among them. You have garter snakes, king snakes, corn and rat snakes, bull snakes, plus crazy stuff like indigos, and some that you don’t see as much like smooth green snakes and the teeeeny tiny little ring-necked snakes. A lot of them don’t get nearly as much love as pythons and boas, and I think that’s a shame, since many of them are outgoing and have pretty moderate care requirements.

Most friendly snake is a noodle. They never bite, great for handling. Even though the are quite thin an easy to break they never scare people when you give them the noodle to handle they ‘although weirded out’ will not be scared. Also they make a great snack

I'm surprised that Antaresia didn't get a shout-out!! I have two children's pythons. My female is a yearling that willingly slithers onto my hand to be let out and will happily chill with me on the bed as I watch a movie - she's the most beautiful tempered snake that I own. My other 3 year old male that I found not two days ago on Sunday after he was missing for nearly 6 WEEKS was perfectly handleable even after having no human interaction for that long of a time. They're fantastic little snakes that don't get enough credit <3

Yes. Yes. Yes!! The smug expression I made when you said house snake is indescribable. I LOVE my house snake and wish they got more credit. Super easy to handle and have an awareness of being held/off the ground that most other colubrids seem to lack.

Aww! I'm so glad to see African house snakes getting some love! They're so easy to handle and care for, and for those who like the look of the Mexican black king snake - the black house snake has a similar iridescent shine to it too.

I have two Garter Snakes, and they are complete angels! it was honestly kinda nice to see garters on this list. They are very underrated!

I would love to see a garter snake care guide. (if you haven't already made one)

Great video as always! I love that you included garter snakes! My first snake was my beloved garter. She was a sweetheart! Never musked, never hissed and never struck. I got her when I was 4 so I'm sad to say that she is not with us anymore. I miss her so much!

I was not expecting you to put African House Snakes on the list. I have a female African Black House Snake names Cleo in my tiny collection, but have to agree. So docile, easy to handle, and I’ve let people hold her to get an idea of what it feels like to hold something tinier than a ball python

I adore garter snakes and have several living wild on my property (I have a habitat set up specifically for them). Probably my favorite snake, though, is a close relative of the garter snake, the lined snake (Tropidoclonion lineatum). They make lousy pets because they’re nocturnal and fossorial, but they don’t bite and I’ve never been musked by one. DeKay’s Brown snakes look similar, but they are grumpy, nervous and bitey like their watersnake cousins.

My favorite pet snake was a black ratsnake that I caught as a hatchling and kept for years.

Based on personal experience, I'd have to include gopher snakes with an honorable mention. My experience picking up a wild one and taking it home (don't do this) when I was in my teens was that it was as handleable as any socialized snake I've interacted with from day one. He was handled by a lot of people in his life and never objected, hissed or bit. That experience was similar to the one Episode on Clint's Reptiles where he picked one up and it was just as chill. We had a bull snake (similar species) get inside at one point last Summer. My housemate was looking for a pillow case and some sort of tongs. I just picked the snake up, carried it outside, and let it go in a safe place for a snake. It didn't hiss or struggle. Hopefully it's still nomming on the plentiful mice in the area.

I’ve been waiting for you to put African house snakes on a list for forever! They’re my favorite. This is the perfect list for them!

Woohoo! Glad to see African House Snakes!! This was my first snake (boaedon capensis/cape house snake/brown AHS)—I decided to get one because they are extremely handleable and stay pretty small (specifically males, that are usually less than 3 ft long). I’m willing to bet they’ll pop-off in popularity soon!

Yay, African house snakes made it to a list! I have a baby T- albino Cape African House Snake, and she is the most curious little one. I target trained her for food, which only took two feedings for her to learn. And I got her to go to my hand willingly from the enclosure, and explore around my hand.
She's also the only snake who escaped from her enclosure. African house snake babies are smarter than you expect and so thin that you can mistake them for sentient shoelaces. She found a cavity in the top cover of her enclosure that was designed for threading cables inside like thermostat cables. But it has an extra space on a blind spot and since I couldn't see it, I didn't plug it there. So I totally agree with number one spot. Just keep in mind that this is the true escape artist. If there are any openings that you can thread a shoelace through, for your own sanity and their safety, cover it.
