Ultrasonic Carb Cleaning - How to Clean Carburettors Properly - Honda CB750 | Part 5

1L should be enough to do a couple of sets

Watch me use this Ultrasonic Cleaner to clean the carbs from my Honda CB750 project ready for rebuilding.

In the previous video, I stripped these four carburettors down to bare parts ready for this cleaning process.

Plastic containers do reduce the sonic waves effect use a glass container for better results I use distilled water vinegar and a couple of drops of dawn dish soap

Also when removing parts between sessions, pour the solution through a coffee filter before pouring it back in the cleaner so the debris doesnt go in the next carb.

Tip: instead of putting all the dirty things directly in the bath (and ruining it for more delicate cleaning), put them in separate plastic jars with screw lids. You save detergent and can have different detergents in different cans. Gasoline washes carburetors best.

@SPANNER RASH - I was looking at buying one of these today and thankfully stumbled across your great vid. A question, in your opinion, do you think ultrasonic cleaning could help removing a stuck jet or screw?

People say you can put the parts in a freezer ziplock baggie with the cleaning solution and put that in the cleaner, then around the baggie put water. The ultrasonic vibrations go through the water to the baggie of cleaner, and the baggie should use far less cleaner.

You know cellulose thinners removes carb varnish, but it will attack any rubber, so remove and plastics or rubbers before you use it.

I am looking at getting one of these, as it has been a couple of years how reliable has the one you have been? I've seen similar on another site which is a lot more expensive, not sure whether to chance a cheaper one.

Do you need to remove the 0 rings when using Ultrasonic? are there any issues if you leave them in?

Catching up on your bike vids. Great stuff! I usually put the carbs in a can of dip first to clean or at least loosen the heavy varnish, then into the ultrasonic bath. Distilled water and a Simple Green solution 9:1. Thing is, I think everyone uses something different - if it works for you, all good. I even saw one guy use gasoline. Not trying that.

I watched a vid and he put carb parts in petroleum in a sealed container then he put it in the cleaner, in water: 1. It kept the unit clean 2. You use much less cleaning fluid (whatever it may be).

I hope the cleaning fluid and whatever was on the parts is non-toxic since you are washing it down the sink into the sewer system.

I just got a 6L today, too small I sent for the 15L, no you will not use more cleaner in a bigger machine. Never I mean never put the cleaner into the tank, put tap water in the tank and put your parts in a small glass or plastic container or a plastic bag, sealed with the cleaner. You use very little cleaner and don't have to clean your tank, it's a win win deal. Update, unless of coarse the item is the size of the machine then you would have to use the tank.

I know this is an old video, is this cleaner still working? I've been looking at this model but worried about life expectancy because they are so cheap. Thanks in advance

That bowl should have come out much better first go. I worked at a motorcycle shop and we had a tank. It worked AMAZING. Parts looked almost new. It must be the cleaner liquid

Put the solution in, then the chip basket & parts & top up with water. No more farting about with top ups or taking a bit out

Nice video, but it pains me to see you use only tap water afterwards (due to the chemicals and things like calcium)that basically like cleaning a piece of steel then putting it outside to flash rust.

Why are you putting in water, and the taking some out, why not start putting the parts in first, then you would know how much water/cleaning solution.
