Is There More To Reality Than What You Experience?

These are the kinds of things I think about on my drive to work.

In 1800, Friedrick William Herschel discovered that the light we see is only a small part of a vast electromagnetic spectrum that we had no idea existed. That discovery has changed everything we know about the universe, as well as sparked life-changing innovations in communication, medicine, and even how we cook our food.

It's hard to imagine how mind-blowing that realization must have been to people at the time - to realize that the light all around them was a small part of something much bigger.

Here, I discuss how the science of Superstring Theory predicts the existence of extra dimensions of reality that we can't perceive currently and what that would mean to our understanding of existence.

The fact you don't have more views is proof of how close minded people are, you ask the real questions and know all the interesting facts. Keep at it man

I'm happy to see not every youtuber makes videos for the money, Thank you for sharing your thoughts

What I love about this video is unlike most other videos of this type on other channels, neither the spiritual stuff nor the scientific are belittled in it. Those two are very often on the opposite sides and tend to ignore each other as much as possible.
I am not a religious person, nor do I really believe in God or anything supernatural, but technically nor do I think it's completely impossible until proven wrong.

People complaining about the audio but everything you said was perfect, the context you set and the way you built up to the main idea was very well done and clearly explained. The rain was actually a nice touch. I have to say I like this type of video. And thank you for your insight!!

I don’t know exactly when I subscribed to this channel. Maybe around 100k but I have only just seen this video. Great video Joe. Thanks.

Most of us cannot text and drive but Joe? He's so freaking smart that he can drive a car WHILE EXPLAINING REALITY to all of us... That's pretty badass.

Idk how you do it... but your show somehow simultaneously makes me excited and absolutely petrified to be alive 😂

I ran across this back in December 2019 and have come back several times to re-listen. When we pray, we address God directly even though we can't detect him with our usual senses. This idea has given me a new perspective and really helped to enliven my praying. Thank you.

Joe. You've come a long way man. Congratulations to everything that you have accomplished. I've following your channel for two years now and wow. 💪 Keep up the AMAZING work

+Joe Scott : Do you think it's possible that an advanced civilization would be able to use quantum entanglement as communication and that's why we can't detect their signals? If it's instantaneous, it seems to me that it would be the ideal thing to get around time delay caused from distance in the universe.

Think of a worm that has no eyes. To the worm it couldn't even comprehend the idea of sight. Then you give that worm eyes. It experiences light, and the visual dimension. It was just a sense that it didn't have and couldn't comprehend because it is outside of it's perceived perception of reality based on the only senses it ever had. There may be a sense to feel the spiritual/paranormal(ghosts) etc.. Just something to ponder.

P.S. The whole idea and concept for that comment can be found in the film "I, Origins"

Fascinating stuff Scott. On a linear scale, visible light only constitutes .0035% of the electromagnetic spectrum. Also interesting (to me anyway): the Buddha said that complete and ultimate Awakening cannot be reached through logic or reasoning. It seems that not only is there so much of which we're not even aware, but the most profound and important truths are probably (at least) obstructed by our five crude senses. Ultimate "reality"/Truth may be right in front of us and we're blind to it.

Thanks for all the great content of your videos😊

(Driving and talking - bad idea! :0) Anyway, especially since Einstein, much of what we now know about the universe is very counter-intuitive. Up until the turn of the 19th-20th century, the world seemed mechanical and deterministic. NOW we know it is NOT! Commonsense serves us in most normal situations, but the conclusions of General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics for instance, can leave us gasping for breath! It's VERY exciting!

As a person who has thought about things like this for a while, I tend to agree with the idea that there could very well be beings living in other dimensional arenas that have some influence on ours. As has been said many times, at the quantum level, things get really spooky... What is frustrating is the people I meet who (figuratively) out their "hands" over their "ears" and start doing the, "la la la la I can't hear you - don't want a God, don't need a God, won't listen to anything that even remotely implies that there might be something outside of what we can directly measure, blah blah blah..." because in their professed "scientific mindset", they are arbitrarily deciding the limits of existence, based upon a personal bias (of course, we all do that to some extent). I have found that it is impossible to have a meaningful dialogue with such folks, so I have given up trying to do that. You have a very thought-provoking and wide-ranging field of ideas in your videos, and I have found them both intellectually and spiritually challenging. Keep up the good work! BTW, if you have the time, you might be interested in taking a look at "Evidence that demands a verdict" by Josh McDowell. There are some concepts he brings out that you might find very interesting.

I agree. I think we are in the same situation as we were in early 1900 regarding our knowledge of physics. Let's hope we get our next Einstein soon.
