Could it not be argued under your assertion of realignment that the Republicans are now the voice of civil rights? When I compare what I know of intersectionality as a component of critical race theory, it sounds so far from what MLK described in his famous "dream" that it is almost laughable that participants of associated movements pretend to champion the cause of civil rights. Given that this brand of education isn't what I would consider to be on the fringes of liberal political persuasion, I would argue that Republicans are, in fact, the New voice of civil rights and classical liberals generally feel as if their party has abandoned them in pursuit of newer and more radical stances. At what point does dealignment and realignment occur again?
