I visit Trecco Bay in the seaside town of Porthcawl South Wales, Trecco Bay is the biggest caravan park not only in the UK but in Europe too! Serving 50,000 people between the 13th of July and 23rd September, when the park re-opened after the pandemic. It has over 2000 caravans!

But what else is there on the biggest holiday park in the uk?
Let's find out!

Another interesting and informative video, thanks Tim. Talking of buying a caravan / Park home. My late Father did excatly that. Back in the late nineties when he retired, he sold his house, paid off the small amount of remaining mortage and bought a Park home in Scarborough (He was from Nottingham, but loved Scarborough as he used to go sailing there as a younger man) He could only live in it 11 months of the year, and had to vacate it every February so as he had a decent lump sum left from the house sale he used to go to Cyprus or Italy for the month, sometimes even as long as three months of the British winter, and he managed to do this right up until he passed away in 2013 when the money had run out, so no inheritence for that's how it should be, it was his money he'd worked hard for it at a manual job all his life and I'm glad he got to enjoy it in the twilight of his the channel Tim, keep up the good work fella!

That place is huge! It could do with a few less mobiles and a lot more trees though. It looks a bit like a storage yard from a distance.

I like the chapel touch myself - not a religious person, but I'm sure for those who are, it's a very welcome addition. Fair enough!

Love Porthcawl ❤live 50 minutes away, the place is totally different to when I was a 8 year old 50 years ago when we had our family holiday in the Miners fortnight!

Went there the summer enjoyed it. For an evening the pubs were full of kids so I went to a nearby pub for few peaceful pints . The Ancient Briton is fully recommended, 5 minutes walk !

Wow. This has blown my mind. The progress made there is amazing. Hard to equate that park today with the same park I visited as a kid, with gas lights in the caravans, buckets for toilets in the caravans, which had to be slopped out in the mornings, in the community washrooms/toilets and nightly entertainment being the Dirty Duck and the Jolly Sailor.

One of my family members used to live in a caravan in Trecco Bay. She sold her bunglaow and bought 2 caravans, one for rental and one to live in. If I recall she used to live there 11 months of the year and had to go elsewhere for 1 month, usually she went overseas for a cheap holiday, I think it was to avoid council tax?

The rental caravan income used to cover the annual fees for both caravans and pay for her yearly holiday.

You're right about the walk after a drink and the showdome being far.
And about a real struggle for a seat, thanks so much Tim, really enjoyed seeing the aerial views as well

I definitely went to Church at Butlins in Bognor in the 80s. I was confused because I was raised Catholic and this was COE.

I used to go to Trecco bay as a kid in the ‘80s lol. In my aunties non electric caravan with paraffin lights and a shower block and getting water from a communal tap outside.
