I am a Native from the Pacific Northwest. I grew up on Salmon, Deer, Elk, Eel, Wild berries, Corn, Wild rice.

Salmon, rice and corn with green onion and lemon juice remains my favorite comfort food.

one thing you left out, the format where Beans, Corn, and Squash are grown together is called "The Three Sisters".

This is probably the most information I got about native americans food in a single sitting, as part navajo I see other tribes as part of ours. What I mean is that I see all other native americans tribes as equal, respectful and diverse people, I treat everyone the same like giving respect, caring and being helpful. I want to learn more about the natives diverse culture and overall history.

Great video. The cacao drink was used by the Aztec Emperor, Moctezuma to put "lead in his pencil". Maize, beans, & squash were referred to as The Three Sisters. The three were planted together

Natives Americans fed the World they had the First & Only Food Source MAIZE!, they should be telling the story of what everyone eles ate. No other country had a food source, America is the Old World !, Their descendants are the South East & South Western Natives .

Also, wild rice is not a grain! I love being able to still eat it on my Grain Free MTHF-R diet!

I am Metie...my father was First Nations MicMac. Not everything we do has "cultural and spiritual significance". I bet if one of us blew our nose, she would say "Not only did blowing their noses help with clearing their sinuses, but it also had cultural and spiritual significance." Stop it, people! Damn.

Quick trivia fact about wild rice. It’s not rice at all. It’s actually a type of grass.

Maple syrup and maple sugar are the most delicious sweeteners on the planet, in my opinion. Plus, maple is lower on the glycemic index than cane sugar or honey. ✔ ⬆👍☝🏁

Wild rice isn't actually rice, still very tasty. Pemican is great for survival and nutrition, but isn't very tasty. I'm pretty sure indigenous people still east fish, turkey, beans, corn, and pumpkin.

My favorites on the list:

Savory: Wild rice, fish, turkey, deer, beans, corn

Sweet: Maple syrup, chocolate

I also like cornbread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cake, corn muffins, etc.

Also, this video is actually the first time I've heard of pemmican.

One more thing; 6:26 - I remember watching Dumbo when I was little.

This video uses so many factoids, Rice stems from India and came to Europe around 6.000 years ago, same goes for apples, through the silk road. Rice was exported to the US in the 16th century, and again same as apples. Have fun watching this video, but it is badly researched
