When I've pulled cast iron tubs, I used a sledge hammer and smashed the thing up. Freaking hard but fun work. Good tip

I agree with everyone else who said sledge hammers. I did one day shower remodels and worked by myself. When removing cast iron tubs on the daily you bust out your four corners and around your whole bottom of your the tub comes out in 5 pieces and takes about 30 minutes. Also your saving your money not buying those blades and one sledge will last forever.

You don't have to spend the money on the cast iron Sawzall blades... stand on the top of the skirt with a 20# sledge hammer, smack downward in the middle of the skirt multiple times, that tub will come out into manageable chunks, been doing it for 30 years, it works.

Here's more tips if you use blue tape in your cut line it reduces the amount of ceramic chipping for safety also if you don't happen to have a recep saw you can whack it with a mallet and it breaks

I wish that I would have seen this sooner. I had to remove a cast iron in my first floor bathroom. Boy those things are heavy for no reason. I am running out to get one of these to make disposable easier. Thanks for sharing.

I did hundreds of bathrooms or more we used sledgehammers for ever but would get nail pops in dry wall around the house. Now we just haul them out whole its not that bad my buddy lifts up alone and puts them on a dolly

I cut the new one in two as well for easy installation and then I use a fiberglass repair kit so it doesn't leak. Then, I use water to shower and sometimes I even use soap 🧼

Vintage Cast iron tubs are leaded! Breaking them up can disperse lead dust which is extremely hazardous.

Just score the tub and smack it with a sledge hammer...pops everytime.

Hammer the cast. It will shatter like glass. No blades required

Best way is to have the new guy remove it.
Honestly that was a tiny tub... Carry it out on a dolly.

Used Cast iron tubs go for a lot of money, don't they?

Pro tip: wearing a mask score marks with a cutoff grinder. Then strike with 5 lb hammer. If needed then cut with the blade. Blade will last longer cot cutting the glass enamel. Pay attention or pay cash.

Actually if it’s cast iron it’s better to hit it with a Steel mallet. It’ll break into PCs
