This is, without a doubt, the best HF lift review and assembly video on YouTube. Thank you for it! Just assembled mine out in the shop but had to run in to find a few points of clarification from the (as usual) wonderful instruction manual. Watched 4 before finding yours; again, the best!

One of my questions was about that square pin but I just scrolled through the comments until I found one about it. Your reply was interesting as I couldn’t find a square hole anywhere on the thing. When I go back out in a minute I’m pretty sure it will be totally obvious.

Thanks!

I heard him say that the walls should go up first. My practice is that ceiling goes up first and then top edge of wall will help support drywall on ceiling as it pushes up against outer edge of drywall ceiling.

I just got one to use as a portable solar panel mount . It travels well and a few adaptations it holds 5 - 100 watt panels for my RV to have extra power. Very easy to adapt it, and 1/4 the price other like items cost.

I’ve had this lift for 6 years. Have you figured out what that big square cotter pin is for that hangs on the main shaft? The directions don’t mention it and I have never found a place where it fits. Also, the little hinged hook that flips up on the top of the shaft? It looks like perhaps it was designed to hold the shaft from extending during transport but its not long enough or big enough to reach over the top, at least on my unit.

The one I was borrowing got stuck. You helped me collapse it. Many thanks for sharing.

I watched several other reviews and between half azz camera work and the confused presentations, your video helped me understand this apparatus the most. You used great close ups and covered each step nicely. The KISS rule prevailed in this masterpiece!!

The academy award goes YOU!!!!

Thanks great video, I hate reading instructions. This was a big help, only one question though it seems the lift does not go closer to the floor to put the drywall on.I like that trick with the safety latch where you moved it to the side to lower it.

Helpful video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. I just purchased one of these yesterday with the intention of replacing drywall on a bedroom ceiling. Now, if this thing would screw it in, tape, texture and paint it would be perfect.

Nice, clear explanation of this product. I've been thinking about something simpler for just hanging an upper drywall sheet - like two temporary brackets at 4 feet, a pulley hoist mounted to a joist in the ceiling. Then pulling the sheet up into the holding brackets where you can then screw the sheet to the wall. I may try this but it may be more time and work than it appears.

Home depot wants $45 rent for 4 hours on one of those. I wanted to take my sweet time at it, so I bought one on E-Bay for $85. Only difference on mine is the color, and it don't have the little safety notches that clicks in the holes. Remedy for that is just place a telescoping pole next to the mast and just click it up as you go if worried about it.

ghostses, thanks for taking the time to post such a thorough video. The owner's manual was not very helpful. Just as an FYI, I didn't buy the hoist to hang drywall. I bought it to help me get my RV cover up to the roof of my RV without killing myself. Goes to show that this thing can help perform more than one task.

Glad you mentioned it maxes out at 11 ft.  I have a 12 ft shop ceiling. I suppose a guy could build some risers to bolt on and get the extra 12".  You would have to watch the stability closely as the base width may get sketchy.

I recently bought a Harbor Freight Panel Hoist, It is great except when the drywall is of and odd shape or goes in an outside corner. you have to be extra careful. But all in all I really like mine and one person can take there time and put up a ceiling.

I put the lift in a tight spot. Couldn't figure out how to release the tripod so I could move it. Had to review the video. BIG THANKS! You covered the simple dilemma. I kept screwing with the D-Ring. Once I saw you do it. I was like AWWW SHIT!. Great video for all to learn from.

Thanks, I purchased one of these for my home renovation which would be cheaper than renting it for $50 a day. Excellent review and instructions
