YMFC-32 | Part 1 | a DIY 32-bit STM32 and Arduino based quadcopter flight controller

The YMFC-32 is ready! Check the built videos here:

The YMFC-32 is a 32-bit follow-up flight controller of the 8-bit YMFC-AL. The processor speed is also a major difference.... 72MHz vs 16MHz! This will make it possible to further develop the code in the future.

The YMFC-32 is not a high level flight controller. Its purpose is to give others a head start to develop their own 32-bit flight controller. This with the easy to use and familiar Arduino IDE.

Thank you Joop for your ultimate detailed guidance and how to blog. I was able to built this quad and have posted its flight video on my channel. Thank you so much for providing such amazing content!

Great and interesting project there Joop. Can't wait to see what lesson i get from this. YMFC_AL was great help for my quadcopter build back in 2016. Now, I have an STM32 on standby for me to play around. I appreciate your work man, please keep it going, it goes a long way

Hi Joop, I have used your past quadcopter videos as a starting point for my own project. I have since moved from arduino IDE to CooCox IDE with the Cortex-M3 standard peripheral library. Its great that you keep it simple and stick to arduino IDE as moving to other libraries require writing own i2c drivers, direct port manipulation etc, so not everybody will want to get that technically involved. Thank you for your time, effort and contributions to the community !

Wow! I am amazed at your generosity. I really want to thank you because I could make my own quadcopter using the YMFC-AL software. I just want to say that don't stop! Keep the good projects coming!
Thank you again.

I knew that sooner or later you would do this, you remember when I suggested you to mount a drone on top of the STM-32 just like naze-32 and use the "Cleanflight" to program it. Congratulations Joop, you really are a guy who works with low cost drones project and accessible to all! Congratulations and merry christmas!

Thank you for this :) It is nice to see openly shared development of working flight controller in the STM-32.

Absolutely amazing project and build series!!! Thank you for sharing Joop. I've been following your builds for a while now and I'm already in process of building the STM32 flight controller. One thing I've found that the I2C Wire.h library has changed and now and the line: HardWire HWire(2, I2C_FAST_MODE); needs to be changed to: TwoWire HWire(2, I2C_FAST_MODE); to get rid of the compilation error. Hope this helps other builders. I'm not a code writing guy in any way but not a stranger to electronics and recently decided to give the flying hobby a go after years of RC ship and truck building. Again, Well done!!!

Thanks Joop. Your demonstrations with the STM32 have given me confidence to use them in my own synthesizer project.

Hello there Joop. I think this is a very interesting project and i love that you are documenting it on YT.
The ability for others to get the code and customize it in Arduino is a really good idea.
Me myself are gonna have a go at it. I think its a very good goal to not make it too advanced but more user friendly.
But i must say, a github repo is a must
