Im from Bakersfield born and raised ...Met Buck a few times one time at the Crystal Palace with a buddy of mine that was going through a bad breakup and he needed someone to talk to so we met at the Crystal Palace up at the bar we ate lunch and had a couple beers my buddy was pretty upset and as we were talking Buck came walking in and said " how you boys doing"?...my buddy said what he was going through and Buck pulled up a seat and talked with us for prob a half hour...it was amazing almost like he was a grandpa we hadnt seen for awhile ...we stayed there about 2 hours and when we were ready to leave I asked the bartender for the check and he said " buck said this ones on him"....It was just one of the moments that you will remember he passed I found out that he did alot for people but one of the conditions he didnt want anyone like the media to even know about it.

I live in Bakersfield. When I turned 21 in 1969, I went to the Blackboard bar where Buck was performing that night. I also went to the opening night of the Palace. I went to the River theater as a kid. Thank you for bringing back so many memories.

At the beginning of September of this year I was hospitalized with Covid-19, I spent about 4 to 5 days in ICU not sure if I was going to make it, the doctors asking me if I wanted a Priest and if I wanted to be put on a ventilator if it came to that, I was scared that I would not see my children and wife again, that I was going to die alone but I fought back did what the nurses and doctors told me to do and I was well enough to be put in a regular Covid room because I was getting better. I had to sit in a chair from the time I awoke till I had to sleep, your videos have kept me company while I was convalescing in the hospital and still today. Your trips and stories kept my mind occupied with places I would love to visit and hopefully one day I will. Just want to say thank you Jeff and Sarah for making my dark days a little bit brighter.

I think the Crystal Palace is set to re-open in November. It's not forever closed. I enjoyed this week's episode.

That’s just a few blocks from my home. He did a lot of things that promoted our town. May he Rest In Peace.

I grew up watching Hee Haw with my family all gathered around the TV. I didn't really appreciate Buck's talent until I was an adult. Amazing video, thank you so much for all the hard work! My Sunday morning is now complete. 🙂

Use to go to the shows all the time, what a blessing it was to see buck anytime we wanted. If I recall it was 5.00 to get in. They use to play it live in his radio station too when we would play, KUZZ. The Crystal Palace is still open by the way.

The Crystal Palace is only temporarily closed due to Covid. They're currently hiring and getting ready to open back up. You all should definitely drop in for a show.

I also grew up with He Haw, Buck Owens and Roy Clark. I greatly enjoyed their music and all of their show members and guests. We were a 5 member family living a far way away from this. 3 of my family members are still alive and from time to time we get together and talk about the earlier times, He Haw is always mentioned. Peace to all of their souls, Roy passed on my 55th birthday, and I still listen to Buck's and Roy's records. Buck was the pioneer of the Bakersfeild sound in Country Music and should always remain as the King of it.

I met Buck Owens in 2005. I had went back to visit my friends at the Henry Ford Estate that I had worked with. I ended up talking to him about my mother's record she had of his and described how he was wearing a long-sleeve shirt and he recognized the album immediately. He shook my hand and was very nice. He told me that when my friends talk to me my friends call me buck. I used to watch TV all the time to the seventies and eighties. Jeff thanks again for the wonderful memories.

Loved his music. It's sad to see the Palace and the old Recording Studio shut down. He was a C&W legend, and will never be forgotten.

Been to the Crystal Palace many times to see Buck. I live in Arizona but the majority of my family still resides in Bakersfield. On my yearly visit to Bakersfield I never missed a chance to go to see Buck play. I was so glad when he purchased than big Bakersfield sign and kept it from being demolished. For nearly 30 years I lived in the Chandler Arizona area my Buck had spent some time in Chandler Heights years and years before in the cotton fields back before he had reached California. At one of his shows in the audience I mentioned I was from Chandler and he remembered that place and asked me if it was still there. Back when he was there it was nothing but a little hole in the wall town nothing but Agriculture and bars. Now it’s quite a huge city.
