Evoland 2 - The 8-Bit Duke

In the 'olden days' of 2013 on T8BD, we talked about Evoland, a game Duke liked but felt didn't let the player experience everything at a great pace. That changes with Evoland 2, available on Mac, PC, and Mobile. Evoland 2 adds a charming and funny story, well written jokes and references, and tons of different gameplay mechanics that will leave players with a fun time-travel adventure worth experiencing!

Just finished the game today, took me 20 hours. It was a fun experience in terms of plot and the time travelling mechanic. Kinda wish we can replay the mini games after we beat the game

Great video, Duke! Glad to see you revisited Evoland for the sequel. ;) I appreciate the shift in the game from being purely gimmick to actually fleshing out a story. As you said, the first game had a cool concept with potential. It’s good to hear the second did something with that potential. I need to pick it up sometime. Hope you’re doing well, Duke. I have seen other reviews about this game, where reviewers mainly complained about different things with the game. Your review was a nice change of pace, where you really showed all parts of the game and gave valid credit for what the creators have done. You've convinced me that this is a game I will probably like, so I will probably buy it.

Evoland 3 will take us to the dystopian far future, with predatory mobile gameplay, pay2win live service elements and sheer unwinnable battle royales swarming with 12 year olds pro gamers. The entire middle section of the game only exists as live streams you need to watch, and for the final boss battle you play among us against vtubers.

I actually gave up on the first one an hour in, but hearing that this is almost like how Anodyne 2 was to the first one makes me EXTREMELY excited to play this. I'm definitely going to pick this one up!

Great review. I played the original Evoland, and found it to be really novel, if a little gimmicky. I'd be interested to see how those mechanics fare when stretched over a full-length game!

Great video. Quit 2 before I saw it get to real big mix-ups like Strategy/RPG. Might need to give it another shot.
