Thank you so very much for the "to the point" video... I haven't used Pages in years and finally breaking away from Word, but my clients always have images that normally I would just right-click or drag-and-drop to the desktop to extract the images. Had never known about the package feature - this is so much easier and more organized way of doing it! :)

Amazing deceptive, Apple...awesome job, trying to make it almost impossible for people to simply grab an image off one of your documents. Thank you Ashley.

This was great. I used this to reduce the size of my Pages document by optimizing the images contained within it. Thank you!

I found your post while trying to discover if Pages had the option of linking files the way Word and InDesign do and at the same time deciding which is better. Should you link or embed files? For me, I get worried at how unwieldy a file can get with a lot of large images. This makes a file take up space on the cloud, syncing and emailing take longer and if there is a cap on sending large files, emailing could be rejected. By linking files instead of embedding you can keep all files and graphics at a minimum size. Another ability is to edit the graphic outside of Pages (true Pages has a replace option). I tried dragging a graphic to the desktop. Not happening. You can copy, open Preview and paste the clipboard but this could be a time consuming ordeal. I like Pages' simplicity but linking would be a nice addition. Thank you for revealing a quick and easy alternative.

Thank you for your explanation. Why do they make it so difficult?

It's January, 2022 and Pages does not have the option to "Show Package Contents"

why not just have the ability to copy and paste it directly?

Your instructions may work well with multiple images but I found this more simple at least for single images ...
To save a single image in Pages:
Select the image, picture, or photo in your Pages doc.
Choose “Edit > Copy” or ⌘C.
Open the Preview app in your Applications folder.
Select “File > New from Clipboard” or hit ⌘N.
Select “File > Export…”
Choose where you want to save the file, and give it a name.
