BRANDBERG WHITE LADY LODGE
30 AUGUST 2022
Being a Namibian means a lot to many of us, and when you can live and enjoy the outdoors of my Namibia then you are close to heaven.
During the past long weekend a small group of special people embarked on an epic breakaway through the dry - yet beautiful parts of Namibia.
Starting our journey at the Usakos Padstal with a lekker lunch before embarking the rest of the journey to the Omaruru River where we overnight doing serious wild camping.
Day two and three it was the Ugab River where we were welcomed by treacherous mud pools and swamps. Here we had a few recoveries to do as the heavy laden 4x4's had their own innings with the muddy terrain.
But this is what we love to do, get out and get dirty.
Day three was the cherry on the cake when we received a visit from a friendly - yet cautious herd of elephants in our campsite at the Brandberg White Lady Lodge. (Not sure why people call them ellies - they are majestic intelligent creatures and not "ellies")
During our trip the previous day we encountered several elephants. Interesting enough either singel roaming animals and at the most 2 animals in close proximity of each other.
Even allowing us to go quite close for a video or two, but it is my nature to keep a safe distance. Firstly out of respect and secondly not to come in harms way. They remain wild animals and should be respected as such.
