As a Sonic main in all Smash titles, even modded ones, I agree that Sonic needs move sets like these. But I like to see newer move sets based on the combat from Sonic Frontiers as they now definitely show Sonic can fight his foes rather than just turning into a ball or boosting

Sonic deserves the moveset that better represents his characater and capabilities. Hopefully with Sonic Frontiers and Sakurai playing the game and seeing it as a "must play" before release. I am hopeful Sonic will get a excellent moveset with next Smash entry. Gone are the days of the stigma where people believed that "Sonic isn't a fighter." that many said for years, which isn't true.

A merging of Sonic Battle, Frontiers and such will be perfect for him.

Sonic in PM/P+ actually FEELS like Sonic and simply awesome. Actually care and love was added to him.

Also good detail to note, in the older versions of SSF2(super smash flash 2) at around 2014 or so, a lot of sonic's moveset changes there were used for almost every PM mod at the time, including the side B dash, the axe kick Fair, etc. Always is amazing to see an entire community come together and mish mash ideas

Honestly Project + Sonic is probably the best moveset for Sonic it’s way more fun and it has references to Sonic’s games, I wish it was official!

In Beyond Melee Sonic’s run starts slow but accelerates fast to mimic sonic games, I think this also helps gameplay because he can cover large distances quickly but can’t run away as much in close quarters

Something that you can do in crusade that you didn’t mention was that sonic can do tricks with the grab button mid air to charge up his boost quicker, something unique to that version of the charater

I’m surprised there hasn’t (at least to my knowledge) been a version of Sonic to have his bounce attack as dair, pogoing off characters like Greninja would be very fitting and stylish.

You should've mentioned that if you used Sonic's Down B in the air in SSF2 pre-beta it does the bouncing thing from SA2 and it's a spike that's so satisfying to pull out

Shout out to Smash Remix for doing as good as PM in terms of fixing his moveset and also having Adventure and Classic inspired costumes plus Super Sonic as a secret character.

This really goes to show not just how underwhelming official smash Sonic can be, but as well as how phenomenal Project M Sonic is.

Pretty much every mod and fan game you talked about took something from PM Sonic.

The best change has to be making Sonic's Boost his Side-B, as someone who is a huge fan of the boost, I can't even begin to describe how happy that made me!
