Why are All Voice Assistants Female?

Ever wonder why all of the voice assistants are female? From Siri, to Alexa, and even Bank of America's Erica - more and more voice assistants are populating our world, and that can be a bad thing for our future.

So why are all voice assistants female then?
There's science behind it, but there is also just a lot of bias behind it too.

Cortana has a female voice because it was inspired by the character Cortana in the Halo games. Cortana(Halo) is a fictional AI who has a female voice.

in Italy, we have a male voice for Google and a female voice for Siri and Alexa ... I'd like to know why Google made this different choice ...

I feel like this video is pointless because people (such as you, but also some men) would complain either way: they'd either say they're left out and not being shown respect, or that they're objectified and compared to servants.

(looking through the comment section just now I saw plenty of people wanting their phones to sound like butlers: figures).

My siri has an Irish man's voice... I chose that because he always sounds like a cheery friend helping something out for me haha

Also Siri sounds like a female name too. Male version should be Sira or something lol.

Never thought of that;The stereotypical expectations and biases. But to me women voices sound better and are less enforcing, it's more suggestive than authorative. It would be like getting commands from your device and no one likes having a boss...but that brings into question female bosses and in no way am I implying that women can't be bosses. I would much rather hear a woman speak than a man.

Do women prefer hearing a males voices over a womans voice? This goes into a whole gender spiral that I wasn't ready for. I'd rather a woman have power than a man.
