Singing at funerals can be emotional. But singing at my grandmother's funeral was the hardest thing I've had to do to date. Holding back tears the entire time...hmmm. Kind of a miracle that I got through this one, plus the other 2 songs I sang. But it was also the greatest honor to minister to my mother and family and close friends who knew and loved my grandmother, Carrie Sowell O'Brien Penn. To know her is to have seen a glimpse of God's love.

This song is called Walk Around Heaven. It is a 'go to' funeral song choice and it's been recorded by some of the BEST voices ever, including Mighty Clouds of Joy and the incomparable Ms. Patti LaBelle (my favorite version is hers, TBH).

I hope this blesses someone. That's why I'm sharing this.

Sorry for the loss. Listening to the quality of your voice and the songs character and circumstance of the moment, I believe that this piece should have been a capella. This bass was overpowering. Your voice is a natural voice with intricate ornaments. A capella I feel gives more soul steering. Still beautiful considering the quality of recording.

I really can't see no point in going to Heaven if that's all I'm gonna do is walk around Heaven all day! Those Brothers up the street from me don't do nothing but pace back&forth in the street all day. If I go to Heaven I want to be able to do things I cannot do in this world.
